Rubbing his thumb over Grady’s knuckles distractedly, Gordon asked, “Have you been partnered with Lyle for long?”
“The entire time I’ve been here,” Grady murmured. His gaze fixed on the hand that Gordon rubbed. “I met Lyle my first day on the job. Damn, the man acted like a backwater hick just to piss me off,” he said, chuckling. “I caught him making out with some twink, and it shocked the hell out of him that I didn’t beat him up. I couldn’t leave the guy in the dark, so I explained I was gay, too. He’s been fine ever since, and we’ve found the town fairly accepting of the gay lifestyle.” He shrugged. “They’re not going to throw any pride parades, but we don’t have to worry too much about slander either.”
Gordon fought back the wave of jealousy at Grady’s words about Lyle. Their easy camaraderie was evident. His thumb paused in its travels over the detective’s skin. Seeing his tension, Grady rose from the couch, stepped around the coffee table, and pulled Gordon up to stand in front of him. He wrapped his arms around Gordon, pulling him flush to his body from thigh to chest. Heat flared through Gordon’s body everywhere Grady’s touched him, flushing his body with need. His cock, which had never softened fully, stiffened nearly instantly, filling almost to the point of pain.
He knew if Grady decided to seduce him, he’d be all for it. And if the man didn’t, well, maybe Gordon would take matters into his own hands. The need he felt for his mate was nearly overwhelming.
Grady lowered his head slightly, his lips hovering near Gordon’s and he could feel the other man breathe against his lips as he murmured, “Nothing has ever happened, or will ever happen, between me and Lyle. I plan to convince you that you’re it for me.”
He couldn’t fight back the groan that shuddered through his body at the intense look in Grady’s blue eyes or the sultry timber of the man’s words. He closed the distance between their lips, latching onto the man in a deep, hungry kiss. Mouths opened and tongues joined in the fray as they battled each other for dominance. Grady matched Gordon thrust for thrust and nip for nip until finally Gordon gave in. He wrapped his arms around the sexy shifter’s neck and let Grady control the kiss.
He wasn’t disappointed. The man tangled a length of Gordon’s hair around his fist and used it to tilt Gordon’s head, giving the man better access to his mouth. Grady’s exploration slowed, and he mapped Gordon’s mouth using his tongue and lips. Gordon’s prick pressed painfully against his pants zipper, straining to break free. When Grady’s other hand landed on his ass and pulled his groin tight against his own, he couldn’t stop the low groan that rumbled through his chest.
