“Tell me, why isn’t a beautiful woman like you married?”
Cassie tried hard not to laugh, but the corners of her mouth lifted anyway. If that isn’t the biggest line I’ve ever heard, I don’t know what is. “You’re serious.”
“Of course I am.”
I don’t believe he just asked me that. She smiled and shook her head.
“Something wrong?”
“I’ve been around enough to know a pick-up line, although I haven’t heard that one in a while.”
He frowned. “Sorry. I didn’t mean for the words to sound like that. I’m genuinely curious.”
She shrugged and looked at the glass she held, tracing the moisture on the outside as a frown marred her complexion. “My life is advertising. Building our business takes up most of my time. I rarely date, much less find a man who is willing to take second place next to my job.”
“Maybe you just haven’t found the right man yet. You can have both, Cassandra.”
Her gaze whipped back up to meet his. The right man. Is that all it took? She picked up her glass and took a slow sip as she pulled her gaze from the handsome man. Her heart slammed against her ribs and she swallowed hard. The way her given name rolled off his tongue sent her libido into overdrive. He sat so close, her whole body trembled and tingled in response to the heat in his gaze.
I wonder how he would feel if I asked him the same question? “So why aren’t you married?”
“Who says I’m not?”
