Kali jumped up from the chair and glared at the tangle of wires next to her desk. “Sorry, my power cord isn’t working. What are these extra things you wanted to add?” she asked.
“Meeting with the engineers in the oilfields…” He trailed off, his attention shot. Damn, she bent over at the waist, pulling at some electrical cords in a power strip. The black fabric of her coat barely covered her full bottom. He had never been an ass man, but what that skirt was doing for her right now was making him reconsider. He didn't blink, afraid she would disappear if his eyes closed for one minute.
"You were saying—" She flashed a glance at him over her shoulder. She was damn oblivious to the sight she made. He pictured her naked—no, even better, with her skirt hiked over her ass in the same position, waiting on him to slip into her from behind and a moan passing her lips in preparation and delight, her body responding and singing under his touch. Gideon swallowed, hoping to drench the overwhelming lust and desire out of him. He should have never taken over that Canadian romance-publishing juggernaut. His mind was full of bawdiness.
"Aren't you hot in that coat?"
Kali mumbled something as she finished fiddling with her laptop plug. She fanned herself with a stack of papers. "I'm fine. Let's get down to it," she said, undoing two buttons on the jacket and revealing the tops of her two globes and the lacy shell of a black bra. Her fingers absently traced the exposed skin as she fiddled with her laptop.
Gideon's eyebrows lifted. "It?" Get your head out of the gutter, man. She wasn't the type who would seduce the boss after hours.
Or was she? He watched her cross her legs and dangle her shoe off her foot. The woman was potent, and she didn't even know it.
Kali lifted her head and assessed him with a confused look on her face. "Yes, it. Business. What did you think I meant?"
Right, business. That's why she thought he was here.
