Beverly Sims![]()
![]()
![]() Author's Bio Beverly grew up on the Oregon Coast where the stormy surf and rugged cliffs make perfect backgrounds for her first novels. Her move to Central Florida where she lives with her husband, opened a new world of bayous and the critters that live in them, the scene of an upcoming novel. They love traveling this great country in our motor home. You never know what might be around the next bend. To love to write is to love to read. beverly@simsbooks.com Author's Profile Q: Where do you write?A: Only in the corner of one room in my house, facing away from the windows and doors. Fingers on computer keyboard are hooked directly to that part of my mind where my characters live. Q. Do you plot your books in advance or outline or takes note or something similar? A. Absolutely nothing in advance but my main characters names and a rough idea of their physical appearance and the era in which the books comes alive. Q. What does your husband say or do to help you? A. (Chuckle) He stays out of my way. No, seriously, he is my sounding board and adviser on many mechanical or technical questions. Basically, about anything, or he suggests where to find out. He is not really a reader unless it is sci-fi, horror or military, etc. Q. What is your typical day like? A. There is no such thing as a typical day. If we have plans to do anything any day, it is dead certain I will write nothing that day. I write best with my morning coffee and worse later in the day. There can be days I write nothing at all or days where I manage a couple thousand words. Q. What do you read? A. Almost anything. Backs of milk carton and aspirin and whatever. A couple current event magazines, the daily newspaper every day, and anything by my favorite authors. Not sports stuff or military. though, unless it is ancient history or our civil war, etc. I love romances, historical, and anything with great characters. Q. Where do you get your ideas? A. From places I live, has seen, or dream of seeing. Anything can trigger a germ of an idea, be it a street name (Squid Way) or a child's comment (Why can't I keep the snake in my room) or a color (the green flash over the ocean with the sun sets.) |
