ABOUT WENDI
Wendi Christner
grew up twenty miles from the nearest stoplight, minutes
from the Gulf of Mexico, and steps from an open pasture. A
country girl with saltwater in her blood, she's equally at
ease with grass or sand beneath her toes.
These days, she writes from her home in the city that
she shares with her husband, son, their two shelties, and
Sparky, the little wiener dog.
When it's time to take a break you'll either find her
swinging on her parents porch or playing on a white sand
beach.
INTERVIEW
Q. When did you first start writing?
A. I've always longed to write, and I gave a few meager attempts
in my teens and early twenties. I decided to become an author
about 5 years ago.
Q. What inspired you to write The Water Bearer?
A. I wanted to tell a timeless love story, one that stemmed from
the kind of love I was lucky enough to see around me as I grew
up. I believe some people get love right the first time and have
something a lot of us have to wait much longer to find. Some
things are just meant to be.
Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?
A. I really like to spend time with my family at the beach, and
I do that as much as possible.
Q. If you could give one piece of advice to someone
writing their first book, what would it be?
A. Join a writer's group, either online or in your area. Find a
place where you can learn the business and the craft of writing.
There's so much more to it than I had ever imagined when I set
out to do this.
Q. Name five of your favorite authors.
A. Nicholas Sparks, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Betina Krahn, Sue
Monk Kidd, & Lisa Carey. I could easily list 5 or 10 more, but
those are the first who came to mind.
