But some are determined to keep the Scooby Doo team quiet. When Keata disappears, the investigative team must quickly find the culprit before he or she strikes again.
Ah, but the added mystery is why Remus keeps losing his newly found mate.
Warning: Book contains bad investigative skills, outrageous costumes, off-the-wall dialogue, and moments that make anyone question who put the four mates in charge of the investigation in the first place.

5 RINGS: "The Brac Pack series is great, but the idea of having a murder investigation up to Keata, Gabby, Johnny and Nero was too funny. Add in that it is happening during a Halloween party at the Brac Pack compound and the laughs never ended. Between Nero, the germ-a-phobe, dressed as a germ to Johnny acting like Sherlock Holmes it was the perfect set up for insanity. Remus, the only one in the Lakeland household without a mate, arrives at the party and sees his mate, Seymour, who keeps running away from him just increases the confusion. Come join the Brac Pack and their friends as they kick up their heels creating laughter, mystery and more fun than a barrel of monkeys!" -- Teresa, Fallen Angel Reviews
5 SWEET PEAS: "One word would describe this story perfectly: Hilarious. Poor Gabby stumbles across what he thinks is a dead body in the foyer during the Brac Pack’s annual Halloween bash. Hilarity ensues when he notifies the other inhabitants of the house which makes this one of THE MOST hilarious Brac Pack stories in the series. Somehow or another, Johnny fancies himself a detective and is determined to solve this ‘crime’. He assembles his team which consists of Keata, Gabby and Nero and together this Scooby Doo crack team (more like a Scooby Doo team on crack) begins to investigate and solve the crime. All I can say is: who in the hell put Johnny in charge of an investigation? Their interrogation of members of Christian’s Coven, Zeus’ Pack as well as members of their own pack in addition to their CSI-like efforts in collecting evidence had me damn near falling out of my chair laughing. Hagen was not only successful in suspending the storylines to bring these characters together, but do it in a way that will have you in stitches. Besides being funny as all get out, this story emphasizes the love between the packs and covens. Even though they are all different species, all of them have a great deal love and affection for one another. They are always there for each other, just like a family. Well played as always, Lynn Hagen. Well played indeed." -- Kiwi, Mrs. Condit Reads Books
4.5 NYMPHS: "Maverick feels his life is in a rut and he’s ready to shake things up a bit. To do that, he, and the three other family leaders, decided to throw a big Halloween party. Things turn crazy from the get-go, but what would you expect when the mates are involved. Brac Pack Halloween Murder Mystery is the thirty-second book in Ms. Hagen’s long running Brac Pack series. This story is more of interlude, yet it was one of the best additions to the series in some time. I thought this story took the series back to its lighter moments, before all the families had enemies and crises to battle. Mate centered, Johnny, Nero, Keata, and Gabby find themselves in the limelight. During the party (wait until you find out what their costumes are), Gabby finds Cecil lying dead on the floor. What follows will leave you laughing. More than once I was glad I was reading this book at home so no one could see me cracking up. The interrogations are over the top, and I loved the case notes Johnny was taking. When the ‘case’ is solved, Johnny and his friends decide a little revenge is in order. These four can be evil when need be and it’s a good thing their mates know just how to handle them. There is also a bit of a side story going on that opens up the possibility of new books in the series. I am sure fans of this series will love this little side story. Many former characters show up, all of whom add a wealth of flavor to the book. " -- Critter Nymph, Literary Nymphs Reviews
"With the 'Brac Pack' series being one of my favorite ones, and over thirty books to choose characters from, a big Halloween bash sounded like great fun. Make it a humorous murder mystery at the same time, and I had to get my hands on it. Just the idea of badass Timber werewolf Maverick cooking up a big party with help from Christian, the vampire prince, Panahasi, the head demon, and Zeus, alpha of the friendly Zeus pack, had me laughing. Johnny (a human) happens to have dressed up as Sherlock Holmes, so once the "murder" has happened (Cecil being the "victim"), he dusts off his detective kit and puts himself in charge of the investigation. He immediately recruits his three closest friends, Gabby, Keata, and Nero, as his helpers and the real chaos, ahem, fun can begin. Johnny's summary before they get started had me thinking I knew where this was going: "None of them were Watson, but a bumblebee, a hamburger, and a germ should be able to help him figure out what had happened here tonight." I don’t think there's a single murder mystery procedure that is accurately followed, and speculation and having fun "interrogating" everyone remains the main driver of what's going on. Clues are few and far between. With all the chaos it's a miracle some of the mates and couples still find the time for some hot loving, but then again, it wouldn't be the Brac Pack if they didn't! Adding to the fun is the fact that Remus, one of the last unmated vampires, thinks he has found his mate, a werewolf named Seymour who is dressed as Red Riding Hood, but the man keeps vanishing. When he finally finds him, things get very hot and very heavy pretty quickly. Oh, and then there's the separate party for all the kids at Christian's house. Too adorable for words, and the chaos is possibly even bigger there. I thought it was hilarious Christian pretty much ended up there because he preferred the kids ' company to that of the crazy four mates looking for a murderer. Of course, the solution to the mystery is pretty funny as well, and I am glad to say that all's well that ends well! If you like the 'Brac Pack' series and enjoy an amateurishly run murder mystery where it's all about the characters and their priorities rather than a real murder, and if you're looking for a slightly outrageous and vey funny paranormal interpretation of Sherlock Holmes's greatest achievements, then you will probably like this novella. Believe me, taking it seriously is one thing you shouldn’t do! The note at the end of the blurb basically says it all: "No humans or other worldly creatures were harmed in writing this manuscript. All was written in good fun." Enjoy! I certainly did." -- Serena Yates, Rainbow Book Reviews
More From Brac Pack
The party was in full swing and the music was ghostly as Nero headed down the stairs and toward the library. He took the steps carefully, trying his best not to fall. His costume was a bit bulky, but he was sure to be a hit.
He looked dazzling and even Gunny had approved, chasing Nero around the room, threatening to strip him down and fuck him senseless—hence why he was late arriving at the party.
Johnny, Gabby, and Keata were standing outside the library, arguing about who looked the best in their getup, but Nero knew he was going to win hands down.
He was spiffy and had taken painstaking measures to make sure his costume was just right. Besides, Gunny had told him he looked fantastic and his mate wouldn’t lie to him.
Johnny turned his head when he spotted Nero, his eyebrows rising high on his forehead. “What are you supposed to be?”
Nero preened and turned, kicking one leg back as his arms spread wide. “You can’t guess?” That wouldn’t do. No, that wouldn’t do at all. They had to know what he was. It was too dang obvious.
“Snot?” Keata surmised incorrectly as his dark eyes raked up and down Nero’s costume, a perplexed expression on his face.
“A bubble?” Gabby asked with a bit of humor in his tone. “Although for a bubble, you’re oddly shaped.”
“Goo?” Johnny shook his head. “No, a malformed teardrop!”
Nero rolled his eyes, feeling the frustration set in. How they couldn’t guess, he wasn’t sure. Their deductive skills sucked. “I’m a germ!”
All three gave Nero a look that said oh, but Keata still looked confused. His thin black eyebrows were pulled together and he was staring intently at Nero as if he could will the man to look like a germ.
“Tell me you don’t think I look like a germ?” Nero asked the three.
“Now that you mention it,” Johnny said. “No.”
Nero waved his hands at his friends. He knew he looked like a gooey germ. Gunny had told him so and had helped Nero with his costume. “Not good, no, not good at all. You should have guessed.”
“Chill.” Johnny pointed a finger at his chest. “What do you think I am?”
Nero lifted his leg and scratched his calf as he studied Johnny’s outfit. He hadn’t a clue. “A flasher in an overcoat?”
The man was wearing a large frock coat that looked more like a tweed cape, a strange Deerstalker hat, brown trousers, and brown leather Wellington boots. Johnny also carried a strange pipe and he was leaning on a walking cane.
“No.” Johnny snorted with laughter. “I would never flash my penis at anyone but Hawk. I’m Sherlock Holmes.”
“Who?” Keata asked. The man seemed to be in a steady state of confusion as he stood there, now staring at Johnny intently.
Johnny tossed his hands in the air, seeming flustered. “Hello! The greatest detective to ever live! That’s who.” Johnny stuck his thin chest out proudly. “Hawk is Watson, my sidekick.”
“So, what are you?” Gabby swung around, his stinger nearly knocking Nero over as the man turned toward Keata. All Nero could do was stare at the bizarre thing. It looked so dang sharp that he was afraid his legs were going to be cut off at the knees.
He had a strange urge to run and get a fly swatter or some rolled-up newspaper.
“Duh, I’m a hamburger. Don’t you see my lettuce hanging out?” Keata turned, showing everyone bits of fake lettuce and rings of onions hanging from the back of his costume.
Nero’s stomach rumbled.
“What’s Cody, a chef?” Johnny snorted as he tapped his cane on the floor a few times.
“No.” Keata shook his head as he turned around. “He’s the Hamburglar.”
“The what?” Gabby asked.
“The guy who steals hamburgers,” he explained. “You know, the black-and-white striped suit, black cape, big yellow tie, black eye mask, and a black-and-yellow hat. He chases me around and tries to eat me.”
“Oh,” Gabby said. “Still don’t know, though.”
“What is Gunnar?” Johnny asked as he used the pipe to blow bubbles. Nero reached out with a blue-gloved hand, popping the ones that came near him. One lone bubble landed on Gabby’s stinger, but Nero forwent going anywhere near that dangling thing.
“He’s a big bottle of hand sanitizer.”
“Why are you fellas standing out here?” Gunny asked, the noise behind him sounding loud as laughter rang out and everyone seemed to be having a good time. “Party’s right in here.” He tossed a thumb over his shoulder.
Nero snickered. Gunny honestly did look like a big bottle of hand sanitizer. He even had a large hand pump on his head. It was a hat, but it was still cool to see. Nero had a feeling he was going to have fun tonight.
“You’re a wolf,” he stated.
Seymour looked like he was about to pass out. His blue eyes grew even wider as he finally looked at Remus. “Don’t hurt me.”
“Why would I? Because I’m a vampire?” The thought pissed him off. Vampires always got a bad rap. Some were wholly evil, but most just wanted to live like everyone else. Aside from the drinking blood thing and not being able to be in the sun, they were pretty mundane.
“No, of course not!” Seymour’s breath rushed out as he spoke. “Because you are so much larger than me.”
He wasn’t that much taller than Seymour. Remus’s strength lied in his vampire genetics. His body was nice and firm, biceps swelled nicely, but he wasn’t huge with muscles. He fingered the hair in his hand as he studied the man. “You are aware that we are mates?”
Seymour’s head bobbed up and down.
“Then you are aware that I’m going to claim you?”
Suddenly, just like that, Seymour’s eyes turned to blue fire as he glanced up at Remus. “Yes.”
Moving so he was standing behind the man, Remus began to massage Seymour’s shoulders. “You seem tense.” His fingers worked the knot that had tightened one of Seymour’s shoulder blades, digging his fingers in small circles. He heard a light groan from the wolf shifter and his cock began to thicken in his costume.
Moving his mate to a chair, Remus nipped Seymour’s ear before moving his lips down the man’s neck and around the soft nape. Seymour shivered, tilting his head to the side as his eyelids fluttered closed. “I want to hear you scream for me. I know you will love what I can do to your body.”
“Oh, god.” Seymour’s back arched as his head tilted even further. Remus grabbed both shoulders, holding the man in place as he sampled smooth, supple skin with his tongue. His cock was hard now and he could feel the clear liquid of pre-cum gathering at the tip.
Moving around to the front of the chair, Remus felt his mate jerk when he pulled the cape and shirt Seymour was wearing over his head. The clothing fell to the floor, forgotten as Remus attached his lips to a hard nipple, unsnapping the costume so he could get to his dick. He let the wolf costume slide down his arms before moving to the other nipple, giving it just as much attention.
Seymour was becoming unglued, his hands nervously resting on Remus’s shoulders while he pressed his chest further into Remus’s mouth.
Slowly, Remus stood, his erect cock at eye level with Seymour. His hand tightened on his cock, his fingers brushing over the man’s lips. “Taste me, sweetheart.” His cock was throbbing, the tip aiming for Seymour’s lips. “Open your mouth and give me what I want, baby.”
Seymour’s lips opened, and he moaned as the thick head pushed past them, stretching them wider. “Oh yeah, such a hot little mouth.” He groaned, wrapping his fingers around the base as he sank deeper in the hot depth, stopping only when Seymour’s eyes began to widen with the fear. “Relax your throat, Seymour,” he urged his mate.
Breathing a little heavier, Remus’s eyes were on Seymour’s as the man slowly relaxed the muscles of his throat, allowing Remus to feed him by slow increments to give Seymour the final inches he demanded the man take. His hand tightened on his cock, his finger brushing Seymour’s mouth.
Remus had to fight not to come. The feeling was so exquisite that his legs began to tremble. Seeing his cock buried in Seymour’s mouth was almost too much.
He pulled back as Seymour suckled the hard length, his tongue washing over it, rasping the underside of Remus’s dick as he nearly pulled free of the man’s mouth until Seymour was slurping on nothing but the engorged head.
“Take your dick out,” Remus demanded through clenched teeth, feeling as if he were going to come at any second. “I want to watch you play with yourself.”
A slow, measured thrust sank his cock back into the scorching heat. Remus groaned as he pulled back and then thrust forward again, watching as Seymour pulled his erection free before palming the length and stroking the flesh quickly. He was fucking Seymour’s mouth harder now, the man’s lips stretched wide.
“Swallow me, baby.” Remus’s balls drew up tight, almost painfully. He speared in, Seymour swallowed, Remus’s hips jerked, then he felt the first hard, hot blast of his semen rocket against the back of Seymour’s throat. It was followed by more. Thick hard pulses of creamy cum spurted down the man’s throat as he cried out above Seymour.
