He exhaled long and gazed out her window. A bolt of lightning illuminated the backyard. She squinted at the sudden brightness and dropped the pasta into the pot. Then she glanced back at Drake. It was hard to believe he had been a dragon a few hours earlier and had saved her. He looked so normal. Well, handsome as a god, but normal dressed in too-tight pants and no shirt. The kitchen light enhanced his golden skin, and the look to his eyes was otherworldly. He moved closer until he was only a few inches from her. Oran poked him in the ribs. “No, you’re not. You’re just trying to take advantage of her without me being around.”

Drake chuckled. “Maybe.” He pinched his mate’s ass and then turned back to Elise. “We want you to come back with us. If you want to, that is.”
