Haley’s Game is 400 pages of delicious, scrumptious, sexy, humorous bantering between three people who are definitely in love with one another. I enjoyed how Ms. Penn brought back Patton, the Davis brothers, Rachel, Adam, and Killian to join in the fun. There were times that I laughed so hard in the book that I wanted to cry at the antics Kyle, Cole, Hailey and the rest of the gang came up with to win the game, or should I say the war. The main characters as well as the secondary characters came to life for me with the turn of every page and I remembered why I enjoyed the first Cattleman’s story so much. These guys have truly become a part of my family. Ms. Penn definitely has a way with words and one hell of an imagination because the sex scenes are explosive and will leave you panting for days while begging for more all at the same time. I must admit that there were times I wouldn’t have mind switching places with Hailey. But don’t get me wrong, Ms. Hailey had a few tricks up her sleeve as well in the boudoir. She’s one feisty lady with a sexual appetite that’s more than enough to accommodate the hungry desires of two ruggedly handsome Cattlemen. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I hope that it either involves Cole’s crazy cousins or Hailey’s dominant brothers who are back in town to stay. I must admit Ms. Penn that the country just got a little more interesting. If you’re looking for a captivating, sizzling, well-written story that will make you laugh at the characters’ antics and set your body and soul on fire from the scorching hot sex scenes, then Hailey’s Game is definitely the book to read. 5 CHERRIES: "Take two arrogant, self assured, sexy cowboys and throw in one independent spitfire of a woman and its GAME ON! Have you ever read a book that had you so drawn in on page 1 that you were reading page 401 before you even realized it? If that’s your idea of great story you are going to love Jenny Penn’s second installment in the Cattlemen’s Club series, Hailey’s Game. I’m not sure what they grow in South Alabama but whatever they’re feeding the men of Pittsview makes them ALPHA male to the max! Take for instance Kyle Harding and Cole Jackson. Kyle is, and has been, in love with Hailey Matthews since high school. He’s patient, considerate and determined in his pursuit of her. Unfortunately for Kyle, his main competition and biggest threat just happens to be his “wing-man” and best friend Cole. Cole is charm magnified by 10! He also tends to speak before he thinks. Even though he wears arrogance like a mantle, I was drawn to Cole because it was obvious that his attitude was an attempt to mask some deep seated hurt. I won’t say more than that…you’ll have to read the book to hear Cole’s story and see how Hailey goes from being his nemesis to his life savior! Both men have their work cut out for them when they set their sites on taming Hailey. I have to tell you, Hailey is so neurotic she made me laugh and want to shoot her with a tranquilizer dart all at the same time. Bless her heart, but you know that says something for a story when the reader becomes emotionally invested in the story. Ms. Penn knows how to create characters that are so different and engaging from one story to the next you aren’t left with that dreaded “I’ve read this story” or “I’ve met these people” somewhere else feeling. I can only imagine the difficulty an author has in creating fresh hero and heroines especially in a series set in the same town. Ms. Penn does it well and consistently. I didn’t write my review of Hailey’s Game immediately after reading it like a good little reviewer probably should. There is so much to this book that I actually re-read it before writing. Yep, all 423 pages as well as picking up copies of Patton’s Way and Rachel’s Seduction just to get a better feel for what all was going on in Pittsview – at the same time! That was a fun discovery, realizing that all three stories coincide to make for one very exciting summer in South Alabama. Pick up a copy of Hailey’s Game and prepare yourself to be drawn into the powerfully wicked world of the Cattlemen’s Club. “The bedroom’s down the hall.” Hailey groaned out that encouragement.

“I don’t need a bedroom, princess. I just need to call Cole.”

“Ah!” Hailey shoved back as hard as she could, breaking his damn spell before she said something stupid. “Why you got to be like that, Kyle? Ruin my moment?”

“Because I have a compromise to offer you.” The little bastard made her feel like the mouse in a cat’s house with that smile. Hailey didn’t trust that smile.

 “An offer?”

“Something to help with them bags, princess, because, honestly, they ain’t attractive.”

She should have known. “Kyle, do you want to die today?”

“Okay, okay.” He held up his hands in defense but didn’t slink back out her door. “I was just going to suggest a porno-date night, but—”

“A porno what?” Despite her best efforts not take him seriously, that caught her off guard on the preposterous scale. Kyle proved his willingness to go extreme as he stepped back into her and growled out in that husky way he knew made her knees wobble.

“You know, a porno-date night. You dress a little slutty, come on over to the house, and Cole and I will show you what ‘just sex’ is all about.”

Just the mere idea had her heart racing, and blood flushed through her veins, warming her up for the melt down. “You’re serious.”

“Like a pitbull after his bone, princess. See, I’ve been thinking, and it isn’t right to use sex as a weapon. That’s what we’re all kind of doing and it’s hurting us all, so I say we wise up and call a temporary truce.”

“Truce?”

“A porno-date night,” Kyle repeated.

He meant a three-way, porno-date night, but he couldn’t understand why she had to say no to his offer. Only a fool would sleep with a man she’d already set up to seduce another woman. Right? It had almost happened a week ago, but a week ago she hadn’t liked Cole, but now she kind of feared what she’d done, worried that she might end up hurting herself.

“What do you say, princess?”

Hailey’s jaw clenched because she couldn’t tell him no, even knowing Cole was setting up to betray her. “If I said yes, it would be a no-thrills kind of deal. Straight sex. None of your deviant games.”

Almost immediately his head tilted as his eyes glanced down over her shoulder. “Well, we probably should start stretching that ass. You’ll be thankful for it when Cole’s leash comes off.”

Hailey shivered at that blunt comment, but she refused to let that distract her. “I’m not just talking about that. I’m talking no ropes, no ties, no binds, no toys—”

“No toys?”

“Nothing that I don’t own.”

There came that wicked grin. “You gonna bring your collection with you?”

“Nothing beyond a dildo and lube.”

“Boy, your collection sucks.”

“I’m serious, Kyle.”

“I know and that’s what’s so depressing. You gonna tack on no form of bondage and domination of any kind and really suck the joy out of my day?”

Kyle’s laughter didn’t infect her. Hailey’s mind still stared down the realization of what she’d just agreed to. And why not? Cole might be a bastard, but that didn’t change the fact that she wanted him. What it would change was the level of his humiliation.

Hailey’s mind latched back onto the argument she sold herself on in her garage a week back. Sleeping with Cole would only add to his shame, not hers, so she might as well enjoy the ride. Especially given that Kyle had just negotiated away all the bells and whistles Cole liked to threaten her with, though one rule remained to be stated.

“And no means no.”

“Doesn’t it always?”

“There will be no more of this just kiss her and she’ll forget about that stupid objection. No means no. Got it.”

“You know, Hailey, you’re really taking all the fun out of porno-date night.”

“Kyle.”

“Fine. No means no. No bondage. No domination. Can I at least still get a blow job?”

“Sure. I can spare the five minutes. You want it now?”

The second the words broke the air, Hailey knew she’d regret them in the very near future. At least they took the smirk off Kyle’s face. Still, that comfort seemed a little hollow as he leaned in to issue only one challenge.

“Let’s see if you have the balls to show up first. Seven o’clock. ” With that he straightened up to give her a quick, almost dismissive look. “And see if you can actually find something appropriate to wear, princess.”
