Faust.
A True Native demon born directly from the Pit. Sent by his Superiors to pluck the world’s wicked fruit and send those souls screaming to Hell in a hand basket. In the gritty red light district of a nameless city, he will encounter his first taste of salvation.

Annie.
A beauty whose seductive profession belies her intelligence and tenderness. She will capture the demon’s heart from afar, coaxing him to ignore his wicked duties, if only to be seen and felt by her. In this most unlikely of places, mortal and demon will save each other, heart and soul. But redemption is forbidden to a born servant of Hell, putting all that Faust holds dear at terrible risk…

Excerpt

The coffee came first, piping hot and accompanied by cream and sugar; Faust watched as Annie sipped from her cup, and he found himself studying her face like a worshipper, his oil slick eyes softer than they had ever been. Annie set her cup down and gazed at him pensively.
“Okay, Faust, forgive me but I have to ask,” she said. “What’s the deal with the salt? You don’t like salt?”
Faust’s mouth twisted into a cynical smile.
“I cannot be near salt. I cannot consume it, even touch it, ever.”
“Why not?”
“It burns me.”
“It burns you?”
“It is a pure substance… too pure for my kind.”
“Like vampires with garlic?”
“In a sense.”
Annie plucked up her coffee cup again and resumed sipping. “Oh. Too bad…salt makes everything taste so good.”
The pie was brought out and set before them; great heaping slabs of warm buttery crust oozing with fat sweet red berries and topped by gently melting scoops of vanilla ice cream. Annie plucked up her fork and dug in, and Faust watched her adoringly for a few moments before starting on his own feast. He took a bite from his fork and instantly the horrors of the past few nights grew bleary in his delight.
