Love or Lust, which do you seek?
The last line of the poem in the jewelry box repeated in her mind. Anya's heart pounded. It's just a coincidence, she tried to convince herself. Electric shivers ran up and down her nerves, making her tremble. His mouth hovered just beyond hers. Why couldn't he just kiss her? The tingling in the pit of her stomach grew.
“What is it that in your heart you desire?” Marcos asked. He traced his fingertips down the side of her neck with featherlike touches.
In answer, she grabbed the back of his neck and crushed her lips against his. Love versus lust could be debated later, when she actually had some prospects. Right now, there was only lust. The feeling of his mouth against hers was everything his intent eyes had said it would be. His hands dropped from her neck to the small of her back, before caressing her hips and tugging her body toward his. She let him pull her into his lap, crushing the large pillow between them. His capable hands around her waist made her feel small and feminine, as did the gentle probing of his tongue in her mouth.
Snaking her arms around his shoulders, she began to knead the muscles beneath his shirt. Her lungs heaved with gasping breaths between hungry kisses until she didn't know if she was lightheaded from desire or lack of oxygen.
With obvious effort, Marcos pushed her back by the shoulders, separating their lips. “You would make a wise man forget his wits,” he murmured with a smile. He leaned his forehead against hers and looked at her through the tops of his eyes.
“Then forget yours,” she whispered in his ear. She ran her tongue along the edge of his ear, catching the lobe in her teeth. A sudden hardness against the back of her thigh responded.
