Grace nudged his hand from her shoulder, She was almost certain that their conversation was being overheard, and she was petrified it would come back to haunt them later. Her gaze darted around the large room as she scanned for the disapproving stares she was sure would abound. She was relieved to find her search fruitless for the moment. She folded her arms and held them tight against her.
“ . . .because I am,” Eric continued, reaching out for her chin and turning her face back to his. “I think you’re fucking gorgeous, and I’m not ashamed to say I’ve done some ‘inappropriate’ things to myself at night thinking about you.”
“Eric!” she screamed with an expression of pure horror on her face.
“Grace!” he said, mocking her tone and expression exactly.
“Why do you have to be so obscene?” she whispered, while she primped her hair and smiled at the other guests as they walked by. Eric was standing at her side now, the both of them standing on the sidelines of the main entryway into the auditorium as though they were the hosts. Eric stood with his legs apart and his hands clasped behind his back. Grace stood next to him with her folded arms still hugging her body.
“Obscene?” Eric quipped, his gaze fixed straight ahead toward the arriving guests. “How ’bout this for obscene? Want to know one of my favorite fantasies of you?”
Grace cut her eyes in Eric’s direction without turning her head to face him. “No,” she said behind clenched teeth.
“I like the one with you sitting on my face while I suck on your hot pussy and make you come until you fucking pass out . . .”
“Eric!” Grace gasped, nervously rubbing her neck and trying to keep a smile on her face as the people continued to pile in.

Grace, already uncomfortable, was becoming more and more agitated by the second.

“George!” Grace yelled, as she saw English Professor George Thompson, who had just walked in with his wife. She almost sprinted over to them to make small talk with the pair and escape the discomfort Eric was creating in her. Grace didn’t know him well enough to pick him out of the crowd, but she needed to get away from Eric’s pornographic descriptions. One, because she would be mortified if anyone had heard them, and secondly because it was stirring something within her that she didn’t want to admit to, and she couldn’t let that happen. Not with Eric. Not now. Not ever.

Eric stayed in place, his eyes locked on Grace pretending to be enthralled in the conversations she was engaging in with various members of the faculty. He was in awe of her. She wore a short, sleeveless cashmere blouse that flattered her waistline. The long, black silk skirt she wore with it seemed to shimmer even in the school’s dull fluorescent lighting. The slit on the side stretched up to just above her knee and the black heels she wore made her feminine yet muscular legs go on for what seemed like forever.
She was watching him watch her, and he liked it. He made no effort to hide the fact that she was all he could think about right now. Hell, she was all he could think about most of the time. He thought about what he had said to himself earlier in the week about keeping his feelings and distance from Grace. The more he thought about it now, the more he knew it was complete and utter bullshit. He couldn’t stay away from her even if he wanted to, and he most certainly didn’t want to. But he did want her to know that she was being watched tonight—and she did—and that sat just fine with Eric Bailey for the moment. Just fine indeed.
