His breath hitched...
when the outside overhead light bounced off platinum blonde hair spiked into sharp points. A well-toned body was encased in black leather pants and jacket. She paired the leather with a skin-tight white T-shirt. A two-inch-wide silver metal belt hung low on narrow hips.
His eyes shifted to the massive creature that followed her out the front door. It was a gigantic German shepherd—and if his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him—the dog wore a black patch over his right eye.
Rendered speechless, Austin’s head rotated and discovered a look of pure satisfaction on Derk’s face. With both hands in the air, Derk snickered. “Hey, I figured you had to see this one to believe it.”
Austin swiveled his head back around just in time to see Danny Potter’s chin lift in the air. She looked straight across the street where they were parked. He should have ducked, but froze when he spotted the Kirk Douglas dimple prominently displayed in the middle of her chin.
Derk had to punch him in the arm to shake him out of his frozen state. “Hey, Tin-Man, someone’s coming out of the apartment building across the street.”
They stared as a dark-haired man, maybe six feet tall, crossed from their side of the street over to Danny Potter. Austin watched with avid interest as the one-eyed dog stopped the guy a few feet from Danny.
