Professional Reviews4 TEA CUPS: "Nanci is a mother, career woman, and an ex-wife. She fills her day dealing with a son whose father uses him as a pawn to make her feel guilty for not being with him all the time. Matt's issues with her being at another house would go a lot easier if her ex Glen would just accept that she didn't love him anymore and wanted to move on. Working on tight deadlines, and still making time to go to her Respect Your Body and Divorce Recovery meetings, is difficult, but she manages to handle all that is dealt to her. Her only enjoyment is at night with the moon; the moon shines a new light on her life. She is fascinated with how the moon can make things go into a different perception. Going to her meetings, Divorce Recovery, and the other one, Respect Your Body, both seem to help her to live a better life. With little self esteem, Nanci couldn't believe that not one, but two men were interested in her. Her husband loved starting arguments, but he never said a thing about her weight. With her being overweight she was self conscious, so when Ralph asked her out she thought, why not, he had seen her at the divorce recovery meeting and knew she was fat. But Ralph had no sense of humor. Could she settle with no humor or laughter in her life? She compared Ralph to Glen constantly. Then when her son and her met Scott Guilford, a retired air force pilot, at the planetarium, he seemed too good to be true. He didn't mind the package deal of mother and son and slowly built a relationship with Nanci, until a misunderstanding where she thought he was repulsed by her weight. Scott thought that she backed off because he was pushing to hard. In the end, the story had a wonderful ending. I love happily ever afters and you never know what would come about under the light of the moon. It was wonderful and I recommend this book to anyone who needs a self esteem builder." -- Wendy, Happily Ever After Reviews 4 CUPS: "Nanci Cromwell is a commercial artist. As if her life could be any more complicated, her ex-husband, Gene, is using their six-year old son, Matt, to try and coax Nanci to take him back. Between her work, Matt, and going to meetings to help her deal with her divorce and her overeating issues, Nanci does not have time for a social life. Scott Guilford is a former Air Force pilot. Divorced with no children, he is ready to find love again. A trip to the planetarium will change his life forever. Nanci is not sure she is ready for romance when she accepts a date with Ralph, a man from her divorce group. He is a nice guy, but she keeps comparing him to her ex-husband, Gene, who is using their son to spy on her. One afternoon, Nanci and Matt encounter a man who is the epitome of everything she desires in a man. One thing leads to another, and that leads to Matt becoming comfortable with his parents’ divorce. Nanci just needs some self-confidence to avoid pushing Scott away. What a beautiful romance! Nanci is such a special character. I could relate to her on so many levels. There are so many issues Nanci is facing that many women face, especially the body image problem. It was a joy to read this story and to watch Nanci and Matt mend a relationship Gene was dead-set on destroying. The characters grew and healed as each page was turned. Ms. MacGregor handles the ugliness of the various issues with an inspired touch of class. This is a one of those books that touches a reader deep down in their soul." -- Kimberly, Coffee Time Romance and More ExcerptScott’s arm around Nanci’s shoulder tightened. He held her close, stroking her arm with his hand, and she happily snuggled to him. His face closed in on hers, his lips touching hers lightly. Her mouth met his eagerly, her lips parting to admit his tongue. They kissed long and deeply. He made no move with his hands, but his lips, though silent, spoke to her very clearly. Her whole body, sizzling at the sensuous contact, tensed in delicious anticipation. How far should she let him go? How far did she want to go? Then his arms wrapped around her and held her close, pressing his strong, manly body against hers. She felt every tensed, virile muscle, every sinew, and the ragged breathing that emanated from his lips, which were now pressed into the side of her neck. His lips were warm, dry, strong, and sure. They kissed their way up and down her neck, nibbling, tantalizing, coaxing her body to exultant heights. His left hand tickled the nape of her neck. His right hand tenderly stroked up and down her arm, and then, just as she was agonizing again over how far to let him go, he stopped. “I don’t want to push you into anything you’re not ready for, especially on a second date,” he said. “But I’m not moving this arm unless you sic the cops on me.” He had released his grip on her but was sitting alongside her, his arm around her, and he was holding her tightly. He began to talk, asking her about her work. She made some kind of answers that she hoped were sensible, but she barely heard his words or took note of her own answers. Warmth flowed from his caressing hand into her arm. Magnetism held his arm to her shoulders. She was totally, fully, incredibly conscious of his rugged body alongside hers. She was also conscious of the moonbeam that was now shining in the garage’s sole window, a high, small cut in the otherwise unbroken metal of the large work area. Though the moonbeam didn’t fall across Scott’s body, she felt it somehow added to his natural glow all the same. Could he be the one? Was he the man she was fated to love? Had the moon brought her true love...or was it just another case of finding a man who was so different from Gene that that alone made him attractive? He was different from Ralph, too. He had not only a great imagination but also a keen sense of humor. She couldn’t imagine Ralph coming up with a plan like this for a date. She knew he’d never laugh at all her remarks, her comments, her jokes. Scott never failed to respond appropriately to everything funny she said or did. But what were his faults? She had only dated him twice now, surely not enough time to get to know him well, to get to know the real Scott, to learn if he was impatient, insensitive, thoughtless. No, she couldn’t see him possessed of any of those flaws. But surely he wasn’t perfect! Surely he had flaws, faults, shortcomings...or just areas where, even if there was no actual fault, he and she were on different wavelengths. And how did he feel about her weight? He hadn’t made any remarks, hadn’t seemed to let it stand in the way of this growing relationship, but was it a problem to him nonetheless? He hadn’t pointedly bought a dietetic dinner. The cold chicken and beans were certainly low-calorie, but she couldn’t say the same about the potato salad, shrimp salad, or flan, or the sheer quantity of food. Did that mean he wasn’t trying to change her...or would that merely come later? If he wasn’t put off by her weight, what was the reason for his stopping his advances? Why had he pulled back, after he’d been holding her so close, so tight? It was her body, wasn’t it? He’d been put off, repulsed by her excess poundage. That had to be it. Just then he turned to kiss her again, breaking off in the middle of a sentence to press his lips ardently to hers. Once again his lips parted, carrying hers along with them, and this time his tongue intruded into her mouth. Their agile tongues tangled, parrying with each other, weaving in and out of mouths, travelling from his to hers and back again. His hand on her back pressed her tightly to him. His heavy-lidded eyes were barely open enough to see into her own clouded, joy-filled eyes. |
