[Siren Classic 75: Erotic Paranormal Romance, Historical, Regency] David Barrett, the Earl of Dunreith, has a reputation for being calm, cool and distant. He's the last man anyone would think would compromise a young woman, but he has his reasons--not to mention a very wicked secret he carefully hides from the world. Victoria Caldwell isn't exactly sure how it happened, but all of a sudden her world is upside down. Apparently the man she's always viewed as a mild-mannered friend is instead a passionate lover, capable of luring her into wild, wanton behavior. Even more bewildering, she finds out nothing about David is as it seems and the enigma both intrigues and frightens her. Is he the intelligent, even-tempered man she's known for years, or something else entirely? As the past starts to play havoc with the future, both David and Victoria find a single pivoting decision can summon up all forms of demons, if even if the choice is one made for love... "I love the dilemma of historical characters, especially Regencies, when it comes to romance. So polite otherwise, but that isn't for the bedroom. In this book, I gave David more than his share of burdens, but you know, he handled it surprisingly well. I hope you all enjoy!" ~Emma~ 4 Ratings Avg - 3.8

Professional Reviews5 STARS: "One for Love, Volume 1 of Wicked Warlock Society, is a new series set in Regency England. David was a wonderful character; I just loved when his family realized that he wasn't the nondescript gentleman that they had always known. I would have loved to meet him. Victoria was slightly older than most unmarried young women but she was still unaware of sex. David was delighted to teach her. Their sexual encounters were wonderfully spicy and I got hot reading them! Their lives were bliss until David's secret came to light. Victoria was eager to assist David and I thought that she was amazing. The secondary characters were marvelously written and the plot was perfect. I had an idea of what was going to happen, but Ms. Wildes surprised me when I got to the end. Ms. Wildes has become one of my favorite authors and she fulfilled her promise with One for Love." -- Marcy Arbitman, Just Erotic Romance Reviews 4 ANGELS: "One for Love is the first book in this new series from Ms. Wildes. It certainly does not disappoint as she brings forth some interesting characters, villains and wraps them all up in a dynamic storyline. Although this book is only 61 pages long, the author fills it to the brim with tons of action. The storyline moves at a quick pace as David's secret is revealed and the author takes us on a wild ride until the very end. This is another winning historical romance filled with lots of erotic action with a touch of the paranormal thrown in." -- Susan T., Fallen Angel Reviews "One for Love is a paranormal, historical romance with great period feel and wonderful characters. At first, I had doubts about David's character, after all, he uses a spell to aid in his seduction of Victoria. Luckily, David soon redeems himself and becomes a yummy hero-reserved and aloof on the outside with strong hidden depths and passions. Victoria is no shrinking violet and is a great match for David. Even though that is the case, Victoria acts in a way consistent with a regency lady. Kudos to Ms. Wildes for the accuracy of her period details! All in all, One for Love is highly recommended to the paranormal reader and the regency reader." -- Marlene Breakfield, Paranormal Romance Excerpt
He guided her to one of the settees and knelt at her feet, slipping off her boots one at a time, and slowly sliding his hands upward, under the hem of her riding skirt and shift, so he could remove her stockings. His fingertips brushed smooth enticing skin and he took his time, knowing she watched the progress of his hands. "Shall I take off the rest?" Still kneeling, he looked at her, holding her gaze. "I want to see all of you, Tori." "I..." she faltered. He tensed. If at any time she objected, spell or no spell, he would stop. Persuading her to make love with him by fair means or foul was one thing, forcing her was absolutely something else altogether. "Yes?" "I want you to," she admitted ingenuously. "Don't ask me why because it's utterly shameless, but-" "It isn't shameless," he interrupted, pulling her back to her feet to turn her and unfasten her skirt. "It's meant to be." Her skirt slid to the floor and he admired the graceful curve of her back, and her long legs. David lifted her hair and kissed her nape, inhaling her sweet fragrance. She shivered as his hands came around to caress her breasts. "David." "Yes?" "I never imagined...this." There was shock in her voice. He had. One thousand-no more-sleepless nights. Not to mention the restless afternoons, the early empty mornings, the litany went on and on. How long had he been in love with her? Probably since the day they met. Even as a young child he remembered being fascinated by her angelic beauty and her spirited, lively temperament. "I've imagined it enough for the both of us," he admitted quietly, his body screaming for him to get her out of her chemise. "Lift your arms." God help him, she did. Slowly, in a graceful motion, she elevated them over her head and he lifted the hem of her shift and pulled it off. Then he took her shoulders and gently turned her back around to face him. At that moment, he might just have stopped breathing. Eyes downcast, gloriously nude in the slanting sunlight coming in the long windows, her long lustrous hair tumbled down her back and brushed her hips. She was every masculine fantasy he'd ever had, worth every tortured moment when he imagined her someday marrying someone else. "You are so very beautiful, Tori." The emotion in his voice made her look up finally despite the evidence of her embarrassment in her pink cheeks. Those glorious blue eyes held a hint of reproof. "I never knew you thought of me in that way, David." She had every right to wonder why he hadn't courted her like an ordinary gentleman would have, sending flowers and the sappy poems he'd written, paying social calls, but aside from the fact he wasn't an ordinary gentleman in the least, he really wasn't interested in discussion at the moment. He tugged his cravat free and his shirt came off in record time. He gave both a toss and sat down to take off his boots, his admiring gaze skimming her body. Those glorious full breasts were tipped with delicious rosy nipples, her waist slim, the downy triangle at the apex of her thighs a dark gold. "Believe me, I think of you as a woman, Tori. You're about to see proof of that." His fingers went to the fastenings on his breeches. |
