He is a century old legend who haunts the present day...

When Julian Winston, aka Shadow Hunter, is denied payment from a contract murder, he seeks restitution with the head of his client. In turn, he is offered a priceless commodity--Clara Singer, his client's wife. Never could he have imagined the abduction of Clara to ignite a dormant flame only she fueled to life.

A week of captivity brings Clara to the precipice of comfort and deception. She finds a disturbing calm in Julian as she faces the truth behind her abduction. Once released, she quickly returns to Julian. She has become a new target for murder.

Together, Clara and Julian are on the run, keeping a hairbreadth step ahead of a cold, merciless killer. They find shelter in the undisputable attraction between each other, even as the threat of death hovers around. Can they endure the pursuit for a chance at love? Or will death claim them both?

5 DELIGHTFUL DIVAS, RECOMMENDED READ: "I really liked all the cloak and dagger in this book. Kara Wills has captured her characters very well. I can see both Clara and Julian in my mind as if they were real. Martin and Mina are a true delight. Mina's sauciness had me smiling, and had me wondering if she and Martin end up together. At times I found myself wanting to shout at Clara," Wake up sista, he's playing you." I was drawn to her innocence and beauty, but she also has great strength to be able to come to terms with her life and build it from there. Julian is the ultimate Savior. With his past chasing him as well as his future where will it all end for him and Clara? How will he come to terms with being the Shadow Hunter, will he give it up for love? Can they combine their different worlds to complete each other? Will they live long enough to even try? This book is a long read, but well worth it. It will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat. You will enjoy getting to know Clara and Julian as much as I did. Shadow Hunter is a richly emotional and deeply satisfying romance that will have you sighing in the end. Oh, Kara, what an amazing world you have created for us. Your stories are so powerful. Cheers!" -- Deb, Dark Diva Reviews

4.5 BOOKS: "Kara Wills delivers another spellbinding tale full of betrayal and intrigue. Clara is an innocent pawn in the war between Julian and Chris, but she is NEVER a victim. Julian is anything but a stereotypical murder-for-hire. The characters are fully drawn, full of fire and emotion and conviction. As Clara opens her eyes to the world around her, the lines between hero and villain become blurred and reversed. Julian is a dark hero of the first rate. The reader will be drawn into a world where Old World honor still shines a light in the New World darkness. True love arrives at the oddest times, in the oddest ways. Your heart breaks for Clara and Julian their love when she's married to another, a scumbag who wants her dead. Julian finds himself morphing from assassin to protector of the one who restores his heart and soul. You really, really have to see if they get their Happily-Ever-After. Ms. Wills is a master of creating emotional tension and suspense, and drawing the reader clear to the end. There is no down time in this book. You experience all the emotion along with the characters. The secondary characters, and the villains, are fully drawn and contribute well to the tension. The book is relatively dark in tone, but never overwhelmingly so. You trust the author to get you through, and she never disappoints. I love Clara's and Julian's story, and heartily recommend this author to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful tale. This is the second book I've read and reviewed by this author, and definitely think she's a keeper!" -- Heather, Long and Short Reviews

4.5 KISSES: "As I began reading Shadow Hunter, I was quickly drawn into the love, danger and betrayal in a plot that is dramatic and subtly dark, but never gloomy. As the reader, you will experience all the emotions of the characters. Full of fire and passion, they’re so proficiently drawn I was able to see both Clara and Julian in my mind as if they were standing right there in before me. You can actually feel the bond between Clara and Julian, knowing from the very beginning that it’s meant to be. The secondary characters as well are fully drawn and contribute a great deal of enjoyment to the story. With a great storyline, endearing characters and sensual love scenes, Shadow Hunter is a richly emotional and deeply satisfying read. I’m certain you’ll enjoy getting acquainted with Clara and Julian as much as I did. From start to finish, it will keep you guessing what will happen next and then will have you sighing with satisfaction in the end. A superb book!" --Merrylee, TwoLips Reviews

4 ANGELS: "I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this story. Shadow Hunter was chock-full of drama, suspense, love and danger. Kara Wills brought this story to life for me. I fell in love with Julian and Clara. Martin and Mina were also great secondary characters. I would not mind reading more about these characters. I am glad I took the chance on Shadow Hunter. I was amazed at how well Kara was able to bring all the elements of this story together to make it a totally out of this world read. I would definitely recommend this book to others and I plan to add Kara Wills as one of my favorite authors." -- Nickie R., Fallen Angel Reviews

"This story was a great view into the lives of two very different people that find love in an unexpected way. All they have to do is open up to each other to get to know the "real" person. You really feel the bond that develops between Clara and Julian, believing in meant to be! With a great storyline, endearing characters and lots of love scenes, Shadow Hunter makes a great read!" -- Missy Brown, ParaNormal Romance

STORY EXCERPT

Her back hit the unyielding wall of the dwelling. He held her against the wall, between the heated eroticism of Julian’s masculinity and muscle, and the prospect of what would transpire in the following moments. Her entire body flushed with a forbidden yearning. Parts of her began to ache and throb, especially that inconceivable area at the apex of her thighs. The thought of Julian forced all other thoughts from her mind. The world had ceased to exist since she’d arrived in his captivity, if one could call it captivity.

The feverish heat of his breath brushed over her ear, and she shivered involuntarily. His knee forced hers apart, hooking her leg around his while his hips settled over hers. A soft moan trickled from her throat. She felt the burn of his lips as he hovered next to her ear, the wisps of his hair against her face. Hazy with delight like a docile wanton, she fought to hold her head upright.

“Is this what you want to feel from me? Danger? Do you feel empowered to believe you have tested my limits? Let me reassure you, my dear. My limits extend far beyond what you are capable of breaching.”

“Can you see me?”

“Have you not heard—”

“I’ve heard every word. Can you see me?”

Julian closed his eyes against the darkness. Dear, if you only knewhow I see you right now. His hands found her face with superb accuracy. He turned his head until his nose brushed hers. Her breath hit his lips like succulent dew warmed by the summer sun. He could move just a little closer...

“I sense you. Even my eyes cannot pierce this darkness.”

“Sense me,” she urged.

Julian did not know exactly who moved. But once he felt her lips against his, every last fighting ounce of himself failed. Decades of deprivation thundered through him. Sex was primal. This was sacred. Just his lips resting against the lush heat of hers reminded him of his last romance a century ago. Yet, the intensity of this moment outweighed all his romantic endeavors combined.

Julian tilted his head as he drew his lips across Clara’s. He felt her shudder against him, felt her mouth follow his. He kissed her again, soft and airy. Again, she followed. Suppressing the headiest of his turbulent desire, he took her mouth in his. He eased her lips apart and gently sought her tongue with his. The moment she touched him, he felt a burst of relentless energy like a circuit being completed.

Clara’s mind clouded. She couldn’t explain the surreal feeling that devoured her the moment she felt his tongue. It caught her by complete surprise. A storm of emotions, comfort and a secured righteousness enveloped her. She felt at one with Julian. With this mysteriously sensuous man. She no longer saw him as her kidnapper. He was, somehow, a missing piece of herself.
