At the end of the driveway, Jett slammed on the brakes and pushed the gearshift into park position. He casually extended his arm across the seat and turned to face her.

“What are you doing with Kev, Sydney?”

The question took her by surprise. “What?”

“Answer me. I want to know what you’re doing riding around with my brother.”

“We were going to the store to get some supplies.” She stopped chattering out excuses, but only for a second. “Riley told him to give me a lift. I guess he thinks I’m incapable of driving in the snow, who knows.”

“Is that right?”
