[BookStrand Contemporary Romance]

Despite incriminating signs that handsome, charming Ric may be the burglar preying on the shopping center, and despite the fact that he's admittedly hiding something, Bonnie refuses to believe it's possible. She also refuses to accept the optometrist her mother has her eye on as a possible mate for Bonnie.

Bonnie has a plan to catch and expose the burglar, but it requires her sister's special skills, and her sister refuses to help...until tragedy strikes, and she reluctantly assents. But Bonnie's plan is laced with danger...not to mention her concern that, after all, it might turn out to be Ric they catch in the act.

Excerpt

“Oh, Ric. That’s sweet of you.” Before she knew what she was doing, Bonnie leaned over to kiss him on the cheek.

Only, he turned his head, just then, and her kiss caught him square on the lips. He reacted with surprise for a moment, then he kissed her back fiercely. It was a fierce kiss, burning with the anger she knew he felt at the drug pusher. All the pent-up emotions raging in him came to the forefront and steamed out of him in the hard, insistent kiss.

His lips pursed, pressing against hers. She felt his breath, and her heart beat double-time as a thrum of excitement quivered through her body in response to his unexpected passion.

Amazed at the intensity with which his lips pressed on hers, Bonnie realized that other emotions within him were vying for an outlet and finding it in the kiss. Mixed in with whatever he felt for her were his upset over Don and his anger at the pusher.

The kiss had happened at a time when Ric was bursting, and Bonnie felt his welter of emotions tumbling out of him through his lips. Then those fiercer feelings seemed to evanesce, and Bonnie sensed only tenderness as the kiss mellowed and softened.

When Bonnie realized his passion for her was surging to the forefront of his emotions, she kissed him more fervently, her feelings echoing his. Appreciation of Ric’s good points and gratitude for what he was doing for Don swirled together in the mélange of emotion that fluttered through Bonnie’s body. Her own pent-up longings quickly added themselves to this rich stew of emotions and sensations. She held her breath as she welcomed his lips. Her eyes closed, so that she could focus more intently on her other senses. Happiness flooded her like a swollen river after a spring thaw.

As the strong, blond carpenter opened his mouth wider to thrust his tongue between Bonnie’s parted lips, he placed a hand on her back and pulled her tightly to him. She twisted her body around to accommodate him, and they sat in the middle of the park making the summer day even hotter.

The kiss had bulged with a riot of raw emotions. Bonnie felt that only an open person, an honest person, would let so many feelings show so candidly. Was that a description of a burglar?

No! But it was certainly a description of the kind of person Bonnie could grow very fond of.

Along with his other good qualities, Ric was also responsible, and with a sigh, he broke away from Bonnie and looked at his watch. They hadn’t much time before they were each due back at work. “I don’t think we have time for the carousel today,” he said. “I’m sorry. I got all serious on you, talking about Don’s problem and the drug dealer, and now it’s time to go back.”

Bonnie cringed at the words “time to go back.” Was this the end to their kissing…at least for now? When would they get together again? Would there be another kiss like this…or would they return to their previous casual relationship? She longed for more, wanted to feel his lips pressed to hers again.
