4 STARS: "SHADOW JUSTICE is a wonderful, though quick, paranormal romance with strong leads and a unique world. Any fan of traditional paranormal romance will really enjoy this novella. Luka has become a bounty hunter since his exile from Meta-World, the world where paranormals live parallel to Earth. He's been tasked by the Fae Guard (the Meta-World police) to bring back the rare moon-witch Cerys. Cerys has been hiding on Earth for the past nine years ever since she escaped the Fae Guard who were forcing her to use her abilities to hurt others. When Luka finds Cerys, he knows there's more to her story than she'll admit but suddenly the Fae Guard are trying to kill him. Now Luka and Cerys' pasts are haunting them and they'll have to keep alive while exploring their feelings for one another. I really liked this story. Both Luka and Cerys were well developed characters with believable reactions and mature thinking. Their initial wariness of each other wasn't childish or mere plot tension but was realistic and well written. As a reader I was invested in whether these two battle-hardened people could open up to each other and I wasn't disappointed in how their relationship worked out. Their sexual intimacy was fairly tame by erotic standards but still R rated enough for fans who like their paranormal romance spicy like me. The plot was fairly simple but action packed. Luka and Cerys' pasts were intertwined and it had to unfold with the plot and it totally worked for me, without being confusing or far-fetched. This is a short novella so nothing was drawn out and I liked that. The Meta-World was interesting enough that I look forward to reading future books in this series too. This book hints that at least two more moon-witches are out there being hunted by the Fae Guard and I hope their stories are forthcoming, along with Luka's half demon friend, Cal. I will definitely be on the look out for other stories in this series.
