I don't understand how you do it--how you get better with each story, but I have to say, you have really outdone yourself this time. SIREN IN WAITING was so emotional, so intense, and so hot, I really don't think I could even begin to do it justice. Bethany loves Bo. Bo only sees Bethany as his friend. Bethany finally decides she wants more, and then Trev enters the picture. His life is in shambles but he instantly sees the beauty and submissiveness in Bethany and he wants her badly. Bethany is ready to explore her submissive side with the dominant Trevor, but then lo and behold, Bo finally gets off his butt and realizes that he loves Bethany too. Bethany can't imagine a life without both Bo and Trev but she's sure she can't have them both. However, Trevor feels that as her Dom he's to give Bethany what she needs, and that happens to be both him and Bo. I loved this story. That's really no surprise, since I love everything that Sophie Oak writes, but this story really spoke to me. Dealing with such an intense issue as addiction, I really felt that the author did the subject justice without forgetting that SIREN IN WAITING is an erotic romance. The characters were very human, flaws and all. I really felt connected with them. My heart ached with Bo, Bethany, and Trevor's pasts. But I loved how they all achieve something different from their ménage, but it was exactly what each of them needed. The plot of the story wasn't just emotional, it was suspenseful. I knew something was up, and I knew who was doing it, but I didn't get the whole picture until the end, and that certainly kept me riveted. And of course, this wouldn't be a Sophie Oak novel without some smokin' hot sex scenes. I tell you, Trevor's character had me drooling more than once. YUMMY! That Bo was quite a surprise as well. SIREN IN WAITING is yet another five star read from this amazing author. It's book five in the Texas Sirens series, and it could be read without the others, but I think you'd be missing out on some amazing reads. 5 STARS: "Sophie Oak has written, yet another wonderful story! The moment I began reading Siren in Waiting, I could not put it down. Sophie pulled me into the story and I couldn’t let go. Life has not been good to Trev, Bo or Beth. Beth is always caring for others, except herself. The town’s people run her over without a second thought. Although Trev’s life seemed to be perfect, the pressure was too much for him to handle and he turned to alcohol and drugs to get him through. Bo grew up with an alcoholic father and desperately tried to fit in with the people of his hometown, often at the expense of his best friend Beth. This was no simple, “let’s have a threesome and live happily ever after.” Amends had to be made. Apologies accepted. Life struggles dealt with. The emotion, the heartbreak, the love could be felt from page one. Sophie Oak captures the essence of these characters in a way that will leave you happy and fulfilled. Together they are great and that’s what helps each of them to learn to stand on their own. Did I mention the sex scenes? The smokin’ hot sex scenes? They are included. I never thought a rope dress could be so sexy…A strong believer in reading a series from the first book, I went against my usual and asked to review book 5, having not read books 1 – 4 of the Texas Sirens. I have a deep love for Sophie Oak’s Bliss Series. I love how she intertwines her characters from book 1 along the way through each book thereafter. Is it possible I am missing important details I should already know from previous books? There is always a possibility, but I don’t feel as though I am. I know I would know some of the characters better. I do feel this book can stand on its own. But where’s the fun in that, when I can read 4 other delicious stories? Not only will I read all of the previous books in the series (They have already been downloaded to my kindle. LOL), but I will read Siren in Waiting again and again. Bravo, Miss Oak! 4.5 STARS: "When is a woman no longer a Mouse? When she’s taught to be the natural confident submissive that has been simmering in wait for the perfect Dom. I think I’ve said this about every Texas Siren book but this truly may be my favorite…so far! Bethany “Mouse” Hobbes is such a loveable and honest character she won me over immediately. She has always been the soft spoken, often overlooked, comfortable fixture in the town of Deer Run and rightfully earned the nickname “Mouse”. Having said that, when Ms. Oak first introduces us to Mouse she had just taken the first steps, on her own I might add, in securing a future for herself. In my mind, after reading the book, this was a very important piece of the story because it meant that she was ready for change when it presented itself. She simply needed the guiding and strong hand of a Dom to give her the confidence to pursue her dream. Speaking of the Dom, Trev McNamara, broken ex-football star and recovering drug and alcohol addict, couldn’t have been more perfect for both Beth and Bo. In true Sophie Oak fashion, Trev’s story begins with a tie-in from one of Ms. Oak’s first books. Anyone who has read either the Texas Siren or Bliss stories is used to crossovers between these two fantastic series. Without giving too much away, I have to say I did not expect to see the familiar face that sets Trev on his path to true love and one incredible HEA. Trev isn’t looking for one sub, much less two, when arrives in Deer Run but he can’t deny the chemistry he immediately feels for Beth or his desire to take Bo in hand. It’s not uncommon for a hero or heroine to have personal growth as a story progresses. Really, it’s pretty much expected when it’s romance. The challenge, in my opinion, is for the author to make that growth both believable as well as tangible to the reader. Ms. Oak certainly succeeded with Beth, Trev and Bo. Each character has emotional challenges and/or personal demons to fight. At the same time what they individually bring to the D/s relationship is vital and necessary for the success of all involved. One example of the well developed and gradual change is how Beth begins the story as Mouse but is anything but a mouse by the conclusion. And it only required the “threat” of a good figging, LOL. One of the stories I’ve been anticipating, very impatiently I might add, is Leo Meyer’s tale. Ms. Oak knows how to keep her fangirls happy by nicely setting the stage for Leo, Shelley and Wolf to fight for their HEA somewhere in the near future. I CAN’T WAIT!!! Even if you are new to the Texas Siren’s books you can enjoy Trev, Beth and Bo’s story. There are quite a few names and faces that pop into the story and it certainly makes more sense if you’ve read the other books but it isn’t at all necessary for enjoying Siren in Waiting.
