Darian Keane is taking a well-deserved vacation on his private lake. Being the owner of one of the largest advertising agencies can be stressful, so what better way to relax. His agenda? Fishing one day, sailing the next, hanging out with his buddy. Yep, just a hard working vampire getting some good old fashioned R&R. The locals and the college kids didn't get the memo. Darian has been dealing with skinny-dippers for the past five years. Nothing has worked. So he was tempted to go Vamp on everyone there, until he sees her. His life mate. She's one of the college hoodlums dipping in his lake. But that's okay. He's planning a summer seduction now, so rest and relaxation can take a back seat. Alicia just graduated from college. Now it's time to par-tay! The party animals, a.k.a., the Gammas, assured her and her friends that this lake was the place to be seen--even if it's naked. The owner of the lake doesn't think so. But instead of being frightened by the mysterious man with the crazy rumors swirling around him, she is attracted to him and her curiosity has her spending the summer with him. Professional Reviews"...a very steamy read where the couple seems to go from zero to very fast and you enjoy frivolity..." ~ stevie B., Manic Readers ExcerptDarian looked down at the statuesque beauty in the lake. He purposely willed her to stay, while the others fled. He smelled the antigen in her blood. The scent was unlike anything he'd ever encountered and it was tuned perfectly to him. It could only belong to one person, his mate. Talk about love at first sight. Of course Ted would have his doubts: "That's her!" Darian shouted. "Who, 'that's her'?" Ted began looking around. "My life mate," Darian said looking out the window before stepping out. Ted sighed. "Not again. Ever since Rebecca, every beautiful woman has been…" "I know my life mate when I smell her!" Ted rolled his eyes. "Not the antigen thing again." "Not again. I haven't smelled this in four hundred years." "Sure you're still not on the rebound?" Darian threw him a look and got out to meet his mate. All the screaming brought him back to the present, Darian wanted to cause a blood bath after those smart remarks the kids made. But he was a gentle vamp. Only bite when really provoked. But the main reason was, he didn't want to scare off his mate. She was his and deep down she knew it. "Come to me." She slowly walked toward him. He stared at her naked body; the water was covering her skin like Saran wrap and it made Darian's hormones fire off like spark plugs. Her bronze skin was calling him. He wanted to take a bite so bad. Instead, he bit the inside of his jaw. "Come closer." She did. She stopped in front of him and looked into his eyes. He walked around her, accessing every curve of her body. Lovely, simply lovely. He stood in front of her again. "Mine." He licked his lips, then stopped when he caught the expression in her eyes. It was a combination of terror and fascination. He pulled back on the mind control. She shook her head violently then focused her eyes back on him. "Aaargh!" She ran into the bushes. Well that wasn't very flattering. He always thought of himself as a fairly good looking vampire. He looked to his left when he heard some rustling. Her head popped up over the bush. "Wh…who are you? What are you?" "My name is Darian Keene. I own this lake and the property it sits on. As far as what I am, I think you know." Her eyes grew wide and she began looking around frantically. "Where are my clothes?" Darian sighed, rolled his eyes and went over to the edge of the lake. He found a tank top and a pair of jeans. "Are these yours?" He held them up. "Yes. Toss them." He did and watched her as she got dressed. "You're very beautiful." She stopped suddenly and looked at him with narrowed eyes. "How dare you look at me, and…and…" "How dare I? You and your band of hoodlums are the ones that are trespassing. But that's not the issue now. Come back to the cabin with me. We can talk there." "Are you crazy? I'm not going anywhere with you." She jerked on her pants and grabbed what looked like a purse. "Please. I promise, no harm will come to you." He took a step closer and she backed away. "A guy could get insulted." "I'm leaving." "No, please wait! Look, I live just down the hill. I'm the cabin with the wraparound porch. Just come there." He took a chance and came a little closer. "You know you're curious. And you know deep inside you belong to me." With that, she turned and ran. He didn't worry. She would be back. |
