5 ROSES: "This was a VERY entertaining read. I just felt the need to put that out there before we get down to the nitty gritty!! Ok, here we go. The story opens with Katrina Masters who comes back to her home town due to her mom passing away. She's pretending to be more successful then she really is because she's ashamed and embarrassed at how her life turns out. She's made some really bad and really dumb decisions and is counting on her mom's inheritance, which she finds out she doesn't get. Then we have Colt Donahue, who recently opened a BDSM club which the town is not too happy about. Especially the town sheriff, who becomes increasingly annoying as the story goes on. After a chance meeting between Katrina and Colt, he offers her a job at his club as a hostess, greeter, hat check girl. She accepts, and that's when the story takes off. I really liked some of the plot lines in this story, it makes both characters more likeable. Especially Katrina. She's made some really bad decisions and I still can't figure out her reasoning for them. I also think both character's vulnerabilities makes them more endearing and they stay with me longer. She always wanted everyone, including her mother to think that she was wildly successful in her new life far away, so she wove a fanciful history for herself. Unfortunately, the money she used was from a loan shark, but Kat hopes the inheritance from her mother will pay back the loan. Things don't go as she planned, and she finds herself broke, without a job or a place to stay. She knows that her childhood crush, Colt, now runs a sex club, which caters to varying types of sexual appetites, including BDSM. She also knows that he is a Dom. He is the only person to offer her both a job and a residence, and although she is drawn to him, she isn't drawn to the life he lives. Kat is caught between Colt's appetite for her, and the loan shark's relentless pursuit of his money. Colt will pay back the loan if she will submit to him. As D/s goes, Tamed by the Dom is relatively benign, and other than a spanking scene and some light bondage, there is no harsh BDSM in it. Colt is kind and wants only to care for Kat, if she can get rid of her prickly attitude and learn that people won't only love her for her material possessions. Colt's character is goal-driven, and his main conflict is trying to make Kat see that she is a worthwhile person. Kat has many conflicts within, and her goals aren't clear except for survival, until much later in the book. Colt's other conflict is a nosy sheriff who is trying to catch him in something illegal so he can close the sex club down. Two hours into her shift, Kat realized she was enjoying herself. The guests were friendly, and the time slipped by quickly as she took their coats and answered any questions they had. When a prospective new club member telephoned with a query she couldn’t answer, she went in search of Colt.
