Ryan hurried towards Damian’s room and knocked on his door.

“Come in,” came Damian’s voice. The head of the family already knew it was Ryan. “Did you find Gregory?” he asked the moment Ryan entered the room.

Ryan looked at his Maker. The six foot tall angelic man with blue eyes and black hair that touched his shoulders was sitting on his chair.

“No,” Ryan shook his head as he closed the door behind him.

Damian’s room was full of ancient relics that had been passed down through generations. The entire mansion was filled with exquisite wonders, but Damian’s room was where the most precious of treasures were kept and displayed in their full glory.
Damian let out a sigh. As head of the family, he shared a special bond with every member, but Gregory was different. Damian had turned the young man into a vampire 100 years ago but could always sense there was something different about him. Damian shared a bond with Gregory, but it always felt secondary, as if Gregory already shared a much stronger bond with someone else…someone Damian didn’t know about.

“The family needs you to be strong,” said Ryan.

“I know,” said Damian. “But I’m worried about Gregory.”

“We will find him,” Ryan assured.

He could sense the tension coursing throughout Damian’s body. He loved Damian and cherished every intimate moment they shared.

“I can tell what you’re feeling,” Damian smiled.

Ryan couldn’t prepare himself for Damian’s speed. In a second, his back was against the wall with Damian’s face near his. “You need to understand that you are one of my most precious creations,” he told Ryan as they looked into each other’s eyes. “We will always be connected. Do you understand me?”

“Yes,” Ryan whispered back.

“Now it begins,” said Maximus as he smiled at the human. “So, why are you here?” he asked Ryan.

“I need a favor from you,” replied Ryan. He pushed Maximus away. “Or you can say, a job.”

“What kind of job are we talking about?” Maximus asked. He and his pack did odd jobs for anyone with enough money. He had done jobs that included threatening someone and finding someone who didn’t want to be found. He had also killed for money.

“I want you to find Gregory Brent for me,” said Ryan.

“Gregory Brent, as in one of your own?” Maximus asked. “One of our own ran away from the family?” Ryan could sense a hint of pleasure in the werewolf’s voice and he didn’t like it. “Hmmm, I remember Gregory,” said Maximus. “Isn’t he the young man with blue eyes that Damian turned, the one he treats like his own son?” Maximus came closer. He was familiar with Damian Brent and he knew that he wasn’t what one would call the most open-minded of paranormal beings.

“This…this is a mistake,” said Ryan as Maximus began to kiss his neck.

“I don’t see you stopping me,” whispered Maximus. He had been waiting for years to touch Ryan again, and the time had finally come.
