Arianne Deveraux travels to Paris, France in 1788. At her first masque ball, she literally runs into a dark stranger whose touch sets her heart to pounding and her mouth to run amok. Arianne eventually returns home to the family plantation outside of New Orleans, her time in France a cherished memory. She never forgets the man who gave her, her first taste of passion—a man named Julian.

Julian Chièvres, Marquis of Amien is tired of his aristocratic existence. The world is changing around him and he knows there is little he can do but survive. When the revolution sweeps his country he escapes to the new world. He has no idea fate has brought him once again into contact with his petite fairy. Will he be able to accept the gift that destiny has given him or will guilt at surviving keep him from his heart’s desire?

Excerpt

“Please, Julian. I want you. I ache, and only you can stop it. I know it has to be you.”

“No, Arianne. I will not dishonor you like this.” He held her close, not willing to put distance between them, not yet.

“I am not a child, Julian. I know you don’t want me as a wife, but I don’t care. I want to feel the way I do in your arms, if only once. That will be my reward for succumbing to my father’s wishes, and never feeling it again.” She sealed their lips together in another kiss, putting all her heart and soul into it. Arianne would not be pushed away. She may be an innocent, but not so much so that she didn’t know he felt the same way.

Having made the decision that he was going to have her, Julian swept her weightlessly up into his arms and headed up the stairs, still kissing her passionately. After reaching the top of the stairs, he pulled back only far enough to ask in a husky voice, “Are you sure about this?”

“I want this more then my next breath,” was Arianne’s simple reply. “God, Ari. Much more of that, Sweeting, and this is going to be over before it gets started.”

Julian gently laid her out on the bed and toed off his dress shoes. She sat, transfixed as each morsel of skin that she’d yearned to touch, to taste, for so long was revealed. A sprinkling of dark hair peppered his beautiful chest, tapered to a straight line and disappeared under the waistband of his breeches.
