Lucius thought acting like a regular guy would make him less obvious.
But it hadn’t stopped her from being suspicious of his intentions. Had she really asked him if he had pegged her for some reason?
Not once since joining the Section had a mark ever asked him such a thing. Most of the time they had no idea what had happened until he’d completed his mission and gotten out. Not so with Romy. She had learned to observe people. Well.
He slid his hand to her back, pulling her closer to him. His gaze zeroed in on that incredible mouth of hers. So tempting. Then he didn’t stop to think. He brushed his lips against hers.
A sigh rushed from between her parted lips.
He took the advantage, slipping his tongue into her mouth. Oh, Christ, she tasted of ice cream and fantasies. Her body was lush and pliant against his. And as far as her breasts were concerned, feeling the hard press of her nipples against his chest turned him on like mad. Her arms wound around his neck.
Lucius never expected her to respond so passionately and yet she had nearly taken over the kiss and threatened to devour him. The small smolder of an attraction he had for Romy had turned into a full scale brushfire and was in danger of becoming a conflagration.
Gentle hands moved from around his neck to press against his chest. She pulled away, denying him the sweet taste of her mouth. Her blue eyes stared up at him haunted, confused.
“I’m going to prove myself to you.”
His phone buzzed from the holder at his waist. As they walked, he took it off his belt and flipped it open to read the text message:
