Alanea loves reading almost as much as she loves writing and can be found at any given moment either in front of the computer lost in her own world or on the couch with her iPad reading some of her favorite authors. She believes that love truly conquers all and that everyone no matter what, deserves a chance at that love and a place they can call home.

Q: Do you have any processes that you follow when you write?

A: I usually start with a certain scene in mind and build out from there. Then I write out a very vague outline before moving to bullet points before ever starting the actual story.

Q: Why did you choose Siren Publishing?

A: I attended their Romance Convention in 2012. I was extremely impressed with how they not only treated the fans, but also their authors. I remember thinking to myself, if I ever finish my book, I want to submit to them, and I did.

Q: Where do your characters come from?

A: Since a majority of my current characters are shifters I find myself trolling the internet for animal pictures. That is where Ashby came from, I fell in love with the picture of a baby fennec fox.

Q: What is a typical day like for you?

A: During the week I get up and get ready for work. I go to work then go home, go to sleep, and repeat three more days of the week. During the weekend I love to clean my house and reorganize cabinets (I’m weird. It’s okay, I know). I usually make large pots of coffee and write. When I can’t write I get sucked into the internet and I update my blog and website.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: “For those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who don’t, none possible”

Q: What is the craziest thing you had to look up for your writing?

A: I would have to say medieval torture devices. It was equal parts fascinating and disturbing.

Q: Who has been an inspiration to you?

A: Lynn Hagen and Heather Rainer. Lynn was one of the most down to earth and humble women I have ever met. She seemed truly shocked at the romance convention that people were there to see her (myself included). She looked at me and said “Don’t stop writing, don’t give up.”

Heather spoke at the beginning of the convention. She told us the heartwarming story of how she started writing. I remember sitting in my chair tearing up and thinking to myself. I want to write!! I need to make this happen for myself. Less than nine months later I had submitted my first book and received my acceptance letter from Siren.

Q: Describe yourself using eight words.

A: Nerd. Eccentric. Quirky. Loveable. Funny. Smart. Creative

Q: Name some things that make you laugh out loud.

A: LOL cats, Unstealthiest Ninja, Red vs. Blue.

Q: Where do you live? Tell us what you like about your town or city?

A: I moved to a small town in North Carolina last year. I love how spread out everything is and how quiet. At night I can look up and see all the stars because there is no light pollution from the city.
