Lana’s traveling to her dream vacation in Ambergris Caye, Belize expecting sun, sand, clear water and relaxation. When she assaults a stranger with her carry-on bag at the airport, she’s overwhelmed by her all-consuming attraction to him.
Dean can’t get the clumsy brunette from the airport out of his mind. The way her chocolate eyes had devoured him left him yearning for more, so when he runs into her on the island, he makes the most of the opportunity.
When a dizzying heat engulfs them both, they realize Lana’s short vacation isn’t enough time to tame their burning desire.
“It must be so awesome living here. I can’t imagine waking up to that,” Lana motioned toward the beach with her beer, “view every day. Well, I mean, when it’s daytime.”
Dean nodded. “It is nice, but of course there are downsides.”
She cocked an eyebrow at that, not being able to imagine any downside to living in such a laid back, stunning locale. “Like?”
“Like…In the States, your choices are limitless at the grocery store and in department stores. Here, you settle for whatever’s available. For example, my favorite brand of shaving cream isn’t sold here so, when I make a trip to the States, I buy a case of it to bring back with me. Same with toothpaste and a bunch of other stuff.”
“Shaving cream and toothpaste. I think I could sacrifice my favorite brands for all this.”
He quirked a dark eyebrow. “There must be something you’d miss.”
“Hmm.” She tapped the beer bottle against her lips. “I’ll think on it.”
They chatted comfortably, companionably, and two beers later it finally dawned on her.
“Oh, I thought of something.” She slapped her knee. “Panties.”
His dark eyebrows rose, confusion at her outburst evident on his handsome face.
She laughed at herself and said, “I mean, there is only one brand of panties I wear. They’re so light and comfy, it’s like I’m not even wearing any.”
And just like that, the mood shifted. His expression instantly turned seductive. An electric current buzzed between them, sizzling the air, making her flush. She gulped her beer hoping the cool liquid would ease the flame burning her insides.
“Ya know,” Dean leaned toward her, his eyes boring into hers, “the real reason I hesitated when you asked me in?”
Her throat constricted at the heat in his eyes. “Not because of my klutziness?”
He slowly shook his head. “It was because I didn’t know if I could resist the urge I’ve had since you fell into my lap on the plane.”
He looked so serious, voice so low and husky. Her stomach quivered. “What urge?” she asked, breathless.
“To kiss your pretty lips.”
Oh god, she wanted him. Irresponsible or not, she wanted him baaad. She’d wanted his mouth on her since first laying eyes on him. “Then don’t resist.” Her bold words surprised her, but she wouldn’t take them back. Couldn’t take them back. If he didn’t kiss her soon, she swore she’d die.
“I don’t want to scare you.”
“I’m not scared.” That wasn’t entirely true. The intensity of her desire for him did scare her a little. It was like nothing she’d ever experienced before.
When he stood, she followed suit. He placed his hands on either side of her face and leaned in slowly. Much too slowly. His breath was a mixture of sweetness and the tang of beer, intoxicating all on its own. When their lips met, she melted, knees weak. It started slow, gentle, but quickly escalated, their tongues tangling, demanding, needy. Oh so needy.
His strong hands slid down her shoulders and around her back as he pulled her into his body. Her nipples tightened and she wished their clothing would magically disappear leaving nothing between them but heat and skin.
She clutched at him, fisting handfuls of his shirt. His tongue teased hers, explored her mouth, flicked out licking her lips.
Dean broke away to trail kisses down her neck. She panted, lungs burning, body burning from his touch. It was too much. He was too much. She’d heard friends talk about “insta-lust,” but she’d never experienced it until meeting Dean. It was everything they’d said and more. Overwhelming, exhilarating, frightening in its crazed intensity.
“You okay?” he breathed against her ear.
Words failed her and she could only nod against his chest.
“Want to stop?”
