He stood behind her and laid his hand on the soft flesh of her shoulder. She gasped and froze, the words of her last sentence stuck in her throat.
He traced her spine with his fingers, moving slow enough to stop if she gave him an indication that he was out of line. She closed her eyes and gripped the countertop, shaking.
He untied the sash around her waist, slid his hand up her back, and untied the bow around her neck. Her top fluttered to the kitchen floor.
“Dewayne,” she whispered. She turned around and put her arms around his neck, pressing her taut nipples into his chest. She ran her hands under his tee shirt and helped him lift it over his head. Taking his hand, she led him to her bedroom, where she shimmied out of her shorts.
“Be gentle,” she said. “It’s been a long time for me.”
