UCLA art history professor Jean DuLac enjoyed his life. He was happy with his career and traveling the world searching for masterpieces to photograph first hand for his students. When Jean decides to use one of his own art designs for a tattoo, he meets tattoo shop owner, Harry Callahan. Jean finds out the shop is called, Down and Dirty Harry's Tattoos for a reason. Harry Callahan loves his work. His reputation for being the best tattoo artist in LA is well earned. Harry and his older brother 'Clyde' have a lot in common. Clyde is an erotic dancer by night, firefighter by day, but he and Clyde share the same taste in men...as well as the men themselves. The night Jean decides to get his skin inked, he meets Harry and can't help but be smitten with a man as big, brawny, and handsome as 'Dirty' Harry. Jean has no idea the dark delights he is in for Friday night after class. What Jean discovers is how intense being the object of two men's desires can be and how pleasure with the Callahan brothers, means getting Down and Dirty.

This was a great book! I had it on pre-order and read it in one sitting. I love the character, Harry's, personality. He seems untouchable and those are the kind of guys you love to see come undone.

Down and Dirty by GA Hauser is a fun filled, erotically-sexy romp from start to finish. There are many elements of naughtiness throughout the novel that is a sure fire way of heating up her readers’ on a cold winters night. Through her fast paced storytelling abilities, Ms. Hauser was once more able to almost immediately pull this reader into her uniquely written and loveable characters’ lives.

Art History Professor, Jean DuLac, thought that he led an interesting life. But, the moment that Jean thinks he’s going to live on the edge a little and get a tattoo, little does he know that he life is about to change forever. From the moment that Jean and the tattoo’s shop owner and artist, Harry Callahan, meet sparks fly between them. As Harry gives Jean the tattoo, the men slowly get to know each other. Jean soon realizes that Harry isn’t a person who commits to relationships, nor does he hardly play around sexually without his brother, Clyde, participating within the mix either.

Soon, Jean is introduced to a sexually erotic lifestyle that he had never thought was possible. But, as Jean finds himself falling for Harry, he begins to realize that things are not what they seem. Behind Harry’s confident demeanor, is a man that lives with a dark past that is filled with nightmares and pain. Will Jean be able to break through the walls around Harry’s heart, so they can begin to build a happy life together?

I really liked this book. I admit that I’m a huge fan of Ms. Hauser. Her books are always perfect way to pass the time on a rainy day. Her characters are always unique and sexy and I thoroughly love just about every one of them. One of the things that Ms. Hauser is the master of is writing highly erotic sex scenes. In Down and Dirty, there are MANY sex scenes and hot moments between her characters. Although, this is a M/M, M/M/M and sometimes M/M/M/M book, the story really evolves between Jean and Harry. They are the ones who I felt like made more of a connection and they were the ones that I truly enjoyed reading about. Although the sex was HAWT, I do wish that there had been more conversation and an emotional connection between Jean and Harry.

BOOKWENCHES REVIEW:

When we open a title by author G. A. Hauser, we can’t help but have a few expectations. We anticipate complex characters, beautiful men who frequently have to struggle to find both themselves and their happiness. We expect passion and emotion with a dash of hilarity as well as a plot which may not be life-or-death but still pulls us in and invests us in the outcome. In her novel Down and Dirty, Ms. Hauser gives us all of this with a bit of a twist. Because this time, she takes her readers into a world of kink and sexual taboo with just a touch of “LA Ink” (minus that show’s diva, of course).

I know that the cover of this novel has been a bit controversial in some circles, but I feel that it reflects the story inside quite well. This is Harry, a tough, muscular man in a gritty environment. And while he is indeed a fine physical specimen of a man (I can’t help it, I’m mesmerized by this fellow’s gorgeous backside), when we look into his eyes, we see pain and what might even be yearning reflected there.

Ms. Hauser has created a fictional society for most of her stories, and I find it entertaining to watch characters flit in and out of the various dramas as I read. Natalie Cushman, assistant to Adam Lewis (When Adam Met Jack) makes a brief cameo appearance in Down and Dirty, as does Oliver Loveday (Love You, Loveday), and there are references to Mark Richfield and his son Alex as well as others. Harry and Jean and Clyde in this novel don’t belong in the pretty-boy world of the Richfields, however. Theirs is a rawer world that hovers towards the edge, one of muscle studs, leather bars, tattoo parlors, and kink.

There is a lot of sex in Down and Dirty. A lot of very kinky sex, in fact. But however plentiful or raw it may be with bondage, three- and foursomes, and sex toys galore, I didn’t find it extreme enough to rate as such. There is bondage but no sadism; there is submission but no masochism. Given that I have read plenty of erotic stories, intimate scenes tend to feel somewhat routine to me at times. That is definitely not the case in this novel. I found it utterly fascinating to watch the transition of the main characters’ relationship in these scenes, which start out as men simply enjoying each other physically and end up being quite emotional.

The relationships between the characters are complicated and conflicted. There is the almost-incestuous dynamic between Harry and Clyde, the jealousy and desire between Clyde and Jean, and the intense craving and emotion between Harry and Jean. It is intriguing and dysfunctional, and it pulls you in and makes you hope that none of the characters are left behind.

No G. A. Hauser story would be complete without humor, and this does have a touch of fun in it. Not as much as many of her other stories, given the slighter grittier edge of Down and Dirty, but there is the occasional flash of humor enough to cause the occasional smile. Or even a smirk or two.

Down and Dirty is definitely something of a departure from what we might think of as a “typical” G. A. Hauser novel. It is intense and sexy and somewhat dark, skirting social taboos and indulging secret desires. Even though it doesn’t appear to have the happily-ever-after ending that most of us look for in romance, I found this story to be involving and surprisingly emotional, with unresolved issues that leave a feeling of wistfulness behind. I finished the story wondering if we’ll see Sam and perhaps Clyde again. I certainly hope so.

There is a lot going on in this book. The relationship between Harry and Clyde is very volatile at times and Harry troubled past, definitely leaves him scared to take a chance on love. Even though I liked Jean and Harry, in a way by the end of the book I felt like they still didn’t know much about each other and they still had a long way to go to have a healthy relationship between them.

In my opinion, Down and Dirty read like it is the beginning of a series. There are some unanswered questions and there is the question of how things really will turn out between all of them. Because of this, it had more of a HFN ending and left this reader anxious to read more about the characters in the novel. Ms. Hauser’s fans will certainly love this darkly erotic tale and be asking for more.

Review by Tyra B

When I finished this book I felt emotionally drained. When an author can pull you so far into a story that in just a few hundred pages you feel like you have lived and felt everything that the characters have, you know it's good.

When we first meet Harry he comes across as this bad-ass tattoo guy full of confidence and completely secure. He owns three successful shops he is drop dead gorgeous who would ever guess that he has cut himself off emotionally for so long that he doesn't know how to connect past a sexual relationship. He learned at an early age that he couldn't trust people to stay in his life. Everyone that is except Clyde.

When Jean walks into the tattoo shop Harry can't deny his instant attraction to the man and neither can Jean judging by the bulge behind his fly. After a totally inappropriate but scorching hot scene behind the tattoo curtain both men want to take their attraction a little farther. In the back room after Harry has tied Jean to the bed Clyde walks in and joins the fun. Jean has very mixed emotions about what happens but cannot deny he enjoyed it.

After agreeing to go out to a club for the night with the guys and that turning into a weekend of the hottest sex of his life Jean isn't sure he can walk away from the pleasure that Harry and Clyde have introduced him to. He also isn't sure he can do just sex and that seems to be all they are offering.

The character's in this story and their emotions are so real. Everyone can understand Harry's feelings once we know his back story. And while Clyde's may be harder for us to understand I felt that it started from a good place and in the end we really can't help who we fall in love with. Jean's journey was more one of self acceptance and once he was able to do that he could better understand the dynamics between Harry and Clyde.

This story pulled at my heartstrings and made it necessary for me to take several cold showers and any time an author can do that I think they have a winner. This book pushes several buttons but it is so well written that you forget about that and just accept the story for what it is, and that is a story about finding and accepting love. I hope Ms. Hauser revisits these characters because I would love to see Sam staring in his own book. I give Down and Dirty 5 chocolate dipped strawberries!

5 Star review of Down and Dirty

Are you looking for a hot, naughty story that leaves you hornier than a bed bug on crack? Then *waves a hand over the book cover, Down and Dirty*, grab Down and Dirty by G. A. Hauser. You got tattooed hunks, lots of BDSM play and a love triangle that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Now for my personal review of Down and Dirty.....

Meet Jean DeLac. A professor at a local collage, he decides to get one of his drawings in a tattoo. When he walks into Down and Dirty and meets Harry Callahan…all he can think is that his imagination was oh so wrong. From there he embarks on a sexual journey with the Callahan brothers that will leave him reeling even as he starts to fall for the one man who stirs feeling of something much more than lust. Can Jean accept that being shared between the two Callahan brothers means getting Down and Dirty?

When I started Down and Dirty, I was not thinking I would be drawn to any of the characters...until Jean, Harry and Clyde rolled up on the page. OH MY GOD..Harry had me at the first moment he stepped onto the page. Sexy, Tattooed and so drool worthy I felt unworthy to be in his presence. Then his adopted brother, Clyde, came onto the page and I almost fell off my chair as I tried to still the burst of lust I felt for them both. Add in a sexy professor, Jean and I felt like I hit the lottery. JACKPOT!!!

The characters are quite enjoyable, life-like and definitely deliver a complex story amid the sex scenes that had me on the edge of my seat. Not to say the sex scenes were nothing. *shakes fingers* On the contrary, they literally were so damn hot I was afraid I would need to call the fire department to cool off the computer. Ms. Hauser is a talented author who know how to deliver an erotic story that hits all the right buttons. Sexual tension simmers through out the entire story and the ending was one I sure didn't see coming. It was quite a surprise to me. The sex scenes helped enhance the connection between Harry, Clyde and Jean perfectly. They didn’t take over the story as some others do but enhanced the complex relationship growing between the three men.

If you like your books naughty and full of intriguing characters with a few twists thrown in, then grab Down and Dirty. Down and Dirty is just that-a dirty, dirty book that will steal your heart in the end. Author G. A. Hauser has a new fan and I so can not wait to check out this author's back list titles to see what else I can find to amuse me. All I can ask this author is..can we get more of "Dirty" Harry, Jean and Clyde in the future?

Excerpt

"Clyde and Sam are going to be at the competition later," a big man with tattoos running up his neck said to another man with large tribal plug earrings, as he sat on the couch with him.
"I'll go with you. I can't pass up the opportunity to see cock."
Jean glanced up, meeting one of the man's stare. A wry smile curled Jean's lip. If they were trying to shock him, they'd have to do better than that.
"Jean?"
Jean raised his head from his form and his jaw nearly dropped at the sight of a man he had only spoken to on the phone. "That's me." Holy shit, you're incredible.
"I'm Harry." The handsome man approached, reaching out his hand.
Jean rose off the stool and received the shake. "Nice to meet you." Very nice! Jean thought he had a mental picture in his head of Harry when he talked to him on the phone. Yes, he imagined he'd be big and masculine, but not this gorgeous. "Wow. I love LA."
Harry's blue eyes sparkled when he smiled. "That's why we live here." Harry glanced at the other men in the room. "What the hell are you looking at?"
Jean spotted them hastily turn back to the television set which was airing a show on building custom bikes.
"Do you need more time on that?" Harry pointed to the form.
"I think I finished most of it." He handed it to Harry.
"DuLac? French?"
"French Canadian. Quebec." Jean began inspecting the art on Harry. He wasn't overly done like some men whose top half was pure color. Harry had one tattoo on each shoulder, exposed from his sleeveless t-shirt. Tasteful. Jean imagined chewing on them.
"You don't sound French Canadian."
"Sorry. Do you want me to speak French?"
"I might swoon."
"Mais oui!"
"You're giving me a hard-on. So? Where's the tat going to be?"
Jean pointed to his crotch.
"Sweet. I was hoping for some skin. Come on, pretty boy."
Harry led him to a private booth with a teal colored curtain. As Jean followed him, he spotted through the gaps in the curtains, several men getting tattoos in each boothin private' places.
The buzz of machines competed with the deep voices and laughter, which competed with the loud television set.
Harry gestured to a mechanical chair and sat on a rolling stool beside it. "What have you got in mind?"
Jean took off his jacket and hung it on a hook on a wall. He removed his wallet and a piece of paper from it. "This."
Harry took it from him. "Very nice. Who did it?"
"Me." Jean sat down on the side of the chair so he could face Harry as they spoke.
"Are you an artist?"
"Yes."
Harry connected to Jean's gaze, as if he were digesting the information.
"I wanted it to look tribal, but not cliché." Jean pointed to the art.
"Where exactly do you want it?"
"Here." Jean pointed to his pelvis.
Harry smiled. "That's going to look hot as hell."
Jean began to get excited. Harry was too sexy for either of their goods. "Now I'm afraid to pull my pants down."
"Be afraid." Harry laughed.
"It's like being with a movie star doctor who's about to give me an anal exam."
Harry broke up with laughter. "I'd be happy to give you anything anal."
Jean's cock throbbed, wanting whatever Harry had in mind.
"I have to make this into a stencil."
"I've got time."
"You want a cup of coffee or anything?"
"I'd love a cup of coffee. Is yours better than the fast food joints?"
"No one's complained." Harry stood. "Stay there. How do you like it?"
"Hard and fast." Did I say that? Jean felt his cheeks blush.
Harry stopped short.
"Black." Jean knew he was being inappropriate.
"Be right back."
Once Harry left, the curtain swinging behind him, Jean rubbed his face and sighed. He reclined on the seat and looked at the photos of tattoos on the wall. There were several pictures of Harry with celebrities, sporting fresh ink.
I don't even know if he's gay. I think he is. He certainly is comfortable talking about anal. Yes, he's gay. He's got to be.
Jean looked at a photograph of Harry shaking a pop star's hand. His biceps and deltoid muscles looking edible. The man wasn't even flexing. He was so buff Jean was in heat. He rubbed his cock through his pants.
"Here's your coffee."
Jean spun around to another man, holding out a cup. He sat sideways again, taking it. "Thanks. Hey"
The man paused.
"Did Harry mention anything to you about me?"
"Yes."
Jean felt horrible. "What did he say?"
"He said you wanted black coffee." The man waited. "That it?"
"Yes. Thanks." Jean watched the man leave. Jesus. Is this where all the gorgeous biker gods are hiding? Why don't all of you tie me up and fuck me? He blew on the coffee and took a sip. It was excellent. Smooth, not bitter, and nutty, like an espresso roast.
A moment later, Harry returned, holding up both his drawing and a second identical one. "How's this?"
Jean set his cup aside on a table and held the two to inspect. "It's perfect."
"Thanks." Harry took his stencil and placed it on his work area. "Show me where on your crotch you want it." Harry closed the curtains.
As Jean unfastened his belt he said, "Look, about my stupid comment."
"Which comment?" Harry sat on the stool and scooted closer.
"Earlier." Jean tugged his zipper down. Harry appeared confused. "Never mind." Trying to keep from being completely unprofessional, Jean lowered his pants to his thighs. "Here." He pointed to an area under his briefs.
"You want a tattoo on your underwear." Harry kept a straight face.
Jean inhaled a deep breath and tugged the side of his briefs down with his pants, hiding his erection with the other half which was still high on his hip.
"Sweetheart."
"Yes?" Jean felt the gooseflesh rise on his arms.
"I've seen cocks before."
"I don't know why I'm so excited." Jean laughed nervously.
"Don't worry."
Jean tugged his slacks down his thighs, using his left hand to cover his throbbing dick. "Here."
"I have to shave you, good lookin'."
Trying to stop from panting, Jean lay back on the chair as Harry reclined it slightly. Holding his own cock was making him want to jerk off. And looking at Harry, he was about to.
Harry put on gloves with an erotic snap!' and opened a drawer. A box of new razors and anti-bump shaving gel were placed on his work area.
Jean couldn't stop huffing for breath he was so hot. As Harry squeezed the tube of shaving gel onto his fingers, Jean tugged his shirt up his body.
"Keep going. I'm enjoying the view." Harry winked.
"I can take it off."
"You can. I'm not stopping you."
"Do you want me to?"
"Up to you."
Jean rolled the material under his fingers, exposing a nipple, which was as hard as his dick.
The first touch of Harry's slick fingers on his body made Jean groan. He bit his lip to shut up. Harry massaged the gel around the area between Jean's right hip and the base of his dick. Jean's cock throbbed under his hand, making it move up and down.
"If you turn me on just by shaving me, what the hell are you like in bed?" Jean tried to make a joke.
"I'd be master of all your domain." Harry kept smoothing the gel in circles on Jean's body.
"Yeah? Really? Master?" Jean's cock throbbed and he felt his sticky pre-cum emerge. "Are you why they call this shop, Down and Dirty Harry?"
Harry's blue eyes narrowed on his.
Jean thought he was about to shoot his load at the delightful leer.
"What do you think?" Harry said, bringing his attention back on the task.
