A Must Read....Silents isn't always Golden, but sometimes the voice isn't always Musical...The silents in this story-line brings Magic to the Musical Voice...Need More.
First let me say the characters have the BEST names ever! *wink*

This is book 4 of the Hunter Clan. I adored the story, Jayden and Rhys are a great couple, their dynamic was fantastic - I loved that they each had their individual strengths and fought to overcome issues from their pasts. The story is packed with action both in and out of the bedroom. Wonderful book, great addition to the series. Highly recommended.

I cant wait for book 5, the next couple is going to be combustible. ?

4 HEARTS: "This is another entry into the Hunter Clan series, a series I like more and more as I read it. There are shifters, mages, warlocks, vampires, you name it. And bad ass Dragons! In this installment, Jayden (one of the McLeod brothers) has escaped from Potestas with their sister, Lily. He has been put through horrors at the hands of Potestas and has had his voice suppressed by his brother, Blake, who is being forced to work with Potestas at the risk of death to the family. Jayden and Lily are now safe with the Hunter Clan and turns out both have mates there. Lily is too young to be claimed (poor Morgan!) but Jayden’s issue is a little deeper. Rhys, the clan doctor, is his mate and Jayden doesn’t feel worthy of him. Who wants a mate that can’t even speak, that’s his feeling. He also doesn’t know yet the big secret Rhys is keeping, that he’s a hybrid. First off, Derrick. I want Derrick’s story and I want someone badass who will protect him, avenge him and take care of him. We barely know him and still, that poor baby. Jayden’s inability to control his Earth element was a great touch. Too much emotion? Here comes the flying branches. There is a feeling of betrayal, of angst and torment in Jayden yet he still remains a young man looking to be happy. He needs advice from his family and writes a note: “Right now I need some advice. I think I accidentally acted like a slut.” That made me smile, not only because of Jayden but because he got to say it to my favorite of the Clan, Riley! And Riley got to respond in Riley fashion, “You are who you are. As individual as your tongue print.” I love that guy. Rhys and Jayden have to navigate coming to terms with their relationship while the ever present (and seemingly ever closer) hand of Potestas causes more and more danger. I appreciate that in this series it is not just the big bad alphas who are dangerous and protective. They all have something to offer. In the words of Riley, “Stay the fuck away from my mate, bitch.” They’ll toast you. Jayden comes into his power when he needs it and again, enemies get handed their asses by the smaller mate. Yes! You do see the next mating coming early on, just had to be there. I didn’t see at all the one behind Potestas and I can’t wait until he gets his. Hopefully Jayden gets to be part of taking him down. This is a great series and I’m looking forward to the next one. And one for Derrick…" -- Lucy, Hearts on Fire Reviews

Rhys sighed as the door closed firmly on his face. He had known there was a chance Jayden would panic if he kissed him, but Rhys just hadn’t been able to help himself. He had even been tempted to deepen the kiss when Jayden had responded. Those sweet, lush lips that seemed to be shaped in a permanent pout were enough to drive a sane man crazy. Or a hybrid horny.

He winced at the hybrid part. It had only been a year since the Kayaneş had forced him to come clean about his Mage half, and even though the Clan now knew, Rhys hadn’t told Jayden yet, fearing what his mate’s reaction would be when he found out that Rhys was not only half Mage, but a Spirit Mage at that. Given Jayden’s trouble and experience with his older brother, Rhys doubted his mate would take too kindly to the news. Most people didn’t.

Instilled in him since he was a child that no one must ever find out, Rhys had kept it from everyone, including his Kayan. In a way he was eternally grateful to Sawyer. As a Mage, Sawyer’s presence helped soothe the way for the Clan to accept Rhys for who he really was. Rhys had also been unsure where Jake had stood when it came to Mages, and although Jake was a great Kayan, it could have gone either way.

People were very divided on the potential danger the Mage represented, particularly those with the Spirit element.

Rhys understood being divided on a topic. He was still battling with himself on whether he should tell Jayden about his theories. Ever since he had discovered Jayden’s lack of voice, Rhys had begun researching anything and everything to do with psychological repression. What he had found had led Rhys to believe that Jayden might actually regain his voice if they mated. The physical and mental changes a body and mind go through with the mating process were such that whatever compulsion was blocking his voice might be overridden if they mated. However, Rhys wasn’t sure if he should bring this up. He may be a Wolf, and a Mage, but he was also a man. One that was terrified that Jayden would choose to mate him just to get his voice back.

While Rhys didn’t think for a second that his mate was so callous, he couldn’t help the doubt that crept in. And what about Jayden? What would happen to him if it didn’t work? Would he resent Rhys for getting his hopes up?

So many questions, and not enough answers. It was another risk that Rhys wasn’t prepared to take just yet.

A creak off to his right jarred Rhys out of his morose musings and his head shot up. Walking quietly down the hall was Morgan. Ishad to the Hunter Clan, Morgan was also Lily’s mate. The poor man was having trouble with the fact that his mate was so much younger than him. At sixteen, Lily was too young to even mate yet.

“Is she okay?” Morgan asked. The pained expression on the Wolf’s face made Rhys realise just how lucky he was.

He nodded. “She’s fine. I think she just had trouble sleeping. It’s not the first time Lily has come to his room in the middle of the night.”

“It isn’t?”

“No. And as much as Jayden may appear annoyed, I think he appreciates having her there, too.” Rhys smiled.

The look on his mate’s face every night when he opened to find her at the door was amusing, but it was the way it softened in the presence of her tears that touched Rhys deeply. His silent mate had a heart of gold.

Beside him, Morgan sighed. “I wish there was more I could do for her. I try to be there, to talk to her, but I’m always having to fight my Wolf when she is near.”

“I know.” He tilted his head toward his mate’s door. “And I think she does too.”

“I hope so,” Morgan whispered.

Not wanting the man, who had become a good friend to him over the years, to dwell, Rhys tried for distraction. “How is Jordan coming along with the Potestas trail?”

Rhys knew Morgan’s brother had been working day and night, obsessively, on tracking down Potestas’s latest hideout. The Wolf barely slept, only taking time out when either Rhys gave him doctor’s orders or Jake walked into the control room and physically dragged the Ishad out and to the dinner table.

No one could ever accuse the Kayan of not caring.

Morgan grimaced. “Jordan has some leads, but he’s a little suspicious.”

Rhys frowned. “Why?”

“They were too easy to find.” Morgan shrugged. “At least for someone of Jordan’s skills.”

“So what? Does he think it’s a trap?” Lord knew Potestas could be conniving.

“Don’t know. Maybe.” Morgan sighed. “Jake wants to sit down with Elijah, Jayden, and Lily tomorrow. See if there is anything we haven’t thought of. Maybe they know something that they just didn’t think was important.”

He nodded. “There could be. I’ll make sure the two of them are there in the morning.”

“Thanks man. I would, but…”

“I know.”

Rhys watched as the man turned and walked down the hall. The toll of not being able to claim or even comfort his mate showed on Morgan’s whole body, from the agonised, lost look on his face to the droop of his shoulders.

He couldn’t help but wonder how long it would take for him to be able to hold and comfort his mate. Given Jayden’s reaction to their kiss, Rhys smirked thinking it might not take as long as he originally thought. If his Mage got that worked up over a barely there brush of the lips, Rhys couldn’t wait to see Jayden’s response as he plunged into his mate’s tight, hot body, commanding Jayden’s mouth and arse. He could already hear the mewls and whimpers that would spill from Jayden’s lips, the look of bliss as his mate gave over to the pleasures that Rhys was all too happy to give him.

Rhys shivered and moaned, palming his raging cock that leaked and sat heavy behind the thin layer of cotton that made up his sleep pants.

“Soon,” he whispered to himself.

Reaching out, Rhys unsnapped his mate’s jeans and pulled the zipper down. Jayden hitched his hips up so Rhys could pull them off. Once his mate was completely bare, Rhys just stood there for a moment, visually worshipping the gorgeous creature that was laid out before him.

A blush spread down Jayden’s body at Rhys’s watchful eyes as his cock slapped his abdomen, fully erect again and leaking. Rhys wrapped his hands around the hardened shaft, sticky from his mate’s orgasm. With a few pumps, Rhys could feel his own prick pushing to free itself. He rolled Jayden to his stomach, his Wolf growling and snapping to get to their mate. Rhys glanced up to see Jayden had laid his head on his hands, watching. His eyes were lust-filled with a little bit of fear mixed in.

“I’ll go slowly. I promise. We can stop whenever you want.” Dear god, don’t let him want to stop!

Rhys would, though. He’d do anything for his mate, including suffering through the worst case of blue balls in history.

Jayden gave a slight nod, still watching him.

Rhys spread his mate’s cheeks apart, his breath catching at the little puckered hole waiting to be claimed. He ran his finger over the tight ring, and Jayden bucked. Rhys had no doubt that if his mate could make a sound he would have cried out in pleasure.

As soon as that thought crossed his mind, Rhys felt guilty. He wouldn’t change a thing about Jayden. Rhys was already halfway in love with his Mage, and he knew it wouldn’t take much more to fall the rest of the way.

Rhys stretched over to his mate’s drawer, praying there was lube in there. He hadn’t even thought. He sighed in relief when his fingers latched onto a small familiar tube. Sitting it next to Jayden’s hip, he leaned down and ran his tongue over the quivering hole in front of him as he pushed the tip of his thumb into the entrance. Jayden flew to his knees, rocking back onto Rhys’s mouth as Rhys licked and tasted his mate’s tight entrance.

Nipping lightly, his saliva coated the entrance, and Rhys pushed his thumb all the way in. Jayden pushed back, his body begging for more. Rhys grabbed the lubricant with his free hand, opened the lid with his teeth, and then squirted the cool gel onto Jayden’s rosette. Setting the tube down, Rhys pulled out his thumb, before pressing two thick fingers inside. Jayden squirmed around on Rhys’s digits, his ass wiggling back and forth. Rhys knew his mate wasn’t in pain. If he were, he’d be pulling away, not pushing toward Rhys so wantonly.

Fuuuck, that’s hot.

Rhys fucked Jayden’s hole with his fingers, stretching his mate wide. Slipping in a third, he could feel the muscle relaxing, loosening. Rhys brushed up against Jayden’s prostate, and his mate bucked harder against Rhys’s invasion.

Suddenly Jayden pulled away, pleading hunger on his face as he looked over his shoulder. Rhys knew it was time to claim his mate. His Wolf would expect nothing less.

“If we go any further, I will claim you. Be sure this is what you want, Jayden,” he warned.

Jayden graced him with the most beautiful smile he had ever seen, nodding his head.

Ah, shit. Screw halfway. Rhys was in love.

Grabbing Jayden’s hips, he rolled his mate over to his back. It might sound corny, and he’d never admit it out loud, but Rhys needed to look into his mate’s eyes as he claimed him. Jayden hooked his hands behind his knees and pulled his legs back until they were touching his chest, opening himself up for Rhys. Rhys had never seen a prettier sight. Lubing his cock and then Jayden’s hole once more, Rhys took his mate’s legs and draped them over his arms.

“Ready?” he asked, sweat dripping down his back as he reined his Wolf in.

Jayden clenched the covers in his hands and then nodded.

Rhys’s breath rushed out of him as he pushed past the band of muscles. “So damn tight,” he whispered. “And all mine.”

Jayden nodded again, reaching up to run his hands over Rhys’s arms. Rhys pushed forward, groaning when he finally bottomed out. He had to hold still for a moment until the tingling in his spine subsided. Rhys was primed and afraid he would blow before they got to the good part.

Jayden slapped Rhys’s chest. Rhys grinned down at his extraordinary mate. “Bossy.”

Jayden’s response was to raise an eyebrow. Oh, ho. His mate still thought he was in charge did he? With a dark grin Rhys pulled back, almost all the way out, and then spread Jayden’s legs apart as he slammed back in.

His mate’s eyes rounded and he arched his back, his mouth open on a soundless scream. Rhys didn’t let up, continuing the brutal pace. One look into Jayden’s wide eyes, and Rhys new his mate had finally worked out who was running the show. And his mate was loving it.

Damn, he wasn’t going to last long.
