Navy SEAL Gabriel Walker didn’t think he was asking too much, just a hot woman with some brains who made his down time between missions pleasant. And maybe a little bit more. Forty-something Maggie Fitzpatrick wanted a younger man with a sex drive to match her own and even smarts to hold a conversation. And maybe a little bit more. When Madame Evangeline paired them for the one night stand, neither of them expected the explosive chemistry, the very hot sex…and a little bit more.

Impossible requests. Madame Eve specializes in them. It’s a good thing, because both Maggie and Gabriel have had a hard time finding anyone to fulfill all their needs. Someone interested in a cougar hook-up who can hold an intelligent conversation between inventive sex that lasts. But this Night Mission just might have a little bit more in store for them…

Madame Evangeline –of the 1 Night Stand online agency—is branching out. She still proposes to find the perfect match for one evening (for a fee, of course). However, these “dates” are no longer restricted to Las Vegas. This time…Madame Eve has found two Texans looking for an exciting time who are perfect to “break in” the Castillo’s brand new San Antonio resort.

The “Too-Successful” Cougar: Maggie Fitzpatrick is starting to wonder what is wrong with men. If they are her age, in their forties or older, their major interest is the news or stock reports. And you can forget experimenting in bed- they are set in their ways or too tired. As for younger men, they were too eager and quick but didn’t seem to be able to hold a real conversation, or don’t want to with an older woman. Yet Maggie is in the prime of her life, both mentally and sexually. A successful architect who owns her own firm, she wants a man who isn’t intimidated by her but can hold an intelligent conversation AND keep up in the bedroom, even surprise her. And it looks like Madame Eve has found just what Maggie has been missing!

The Brain & Braun SEAL: You could say alpha SEAL team leader Gabriel Walker is burning out on women. Well, the “average” women he has the chance to be with, anyway. He is not just a muscled military man; he is also an educated (degreed) man who plans his team’s missions. But the flighty women who go for flings with SEALs just don’t do it for him anymore. He wants someone who can banter with him as well as keep up with his appetites in bed. His two teammates who are married to older women have shown him that a cougar just may fit all his needs. Finding one who is interested seemed the problem, until he found the 1 Night Stand website and decided to give it a chance. Now Madame Eve has found a lady who fits all his dreams, even down to her curves!

Maggie and Gabriel’s night starts out HOT and goes even better. But these two get along better then could be hoped. What happens when you sign up for a hot night of sex and find yourself falling for someone? Especially when one of you has a job that takes you away often?

Oh, my word! Talk about jumping right into the Night Mission with both feet, or any body part for that matter, and getting straight to business! Desiree Holt doesn’t hold back anything this time. Now, just to be clear, she does set up the characters and reasons for the 1 Night Stand. But she manages to do so in less time/space than any other writer before in this series (that I’ve read). And there is more sex and interaction (bonding) between the characters than in several of the other books including a couple that carry over to the next day! It is writers like Holt that let me know I am fine staying a reviewer, because I could never pull off what she does: like setting the stage that fast, getting us into the characters fully without dragging too much info in (as I prove here with my running on), and her sex scenes are hot enough to challenge my air conditioner!

I just may have to hate Maggie in Night Mission. Well, she is/has everything we all want to grow up to be/have, and I can’t even get upset about it since she has worked so hard for all of it. She is succeeding in a difficult career that takes talent and dedication (an architect for goodness sakes!). She has her own firm/business and runs it well. She is a sexy, attractive ‘older’ woman who seems to embrace her looks and sexuality. She realizes she has needs (has hit her prime) that the men she encounters haven’t met. She is willing to step outside the normal situation to find a solution to her dating issues. If all that wasn’t enough to make me envious of Maggie, then she gets Gabriel! This is just totally unfair. (Sorry, hubby—this is written in jest, really!) Gabriel is a manly, built, smart enough to keep up with her, and not only stud-ly but hot for HER. The phrase “sex on a stick” could have been coined for him. The fact that he is as smart as he is good looking will appeal to the hidden geek in all of us as well.

As you can tell, I loved Night Mission. Gabriel and Maggie are a tad over the top, but if you are going to do fantasy fiction, might as well go all out and have your dream while you’re at it. Because Maggie and Gabriel get just that from Madame Eve this time, their ideal dream is who she matches them up with for their 1 Night Stand. And boy, is it a hot, steamy one this time! I think Night Mission just became my favorite story in the 1 Night Stand series, so be sure to check it out.

The first thing he noticed was the living room of the suite, decorated like a room from the mid-1800s, only with modern upgrades. The second thing–which should have been the first–nearly made his heart stop. A nearly-naked woman lounged on the couch, wearing the shortest, sheerest…whatever the hell it was called, that he’d ever seen. He hoped his jaw didn’t become unhinged when it hit the floor, or that she expected a lot of conversation right off the bat.

No question about it. I am definitely locked and loaded.

“Hi!” She flashed him an incendiary smile, her low, seductive voice hinting at her Texas heritage. “Come on in. I’ve been waiting for you.”

He lifted an eyebrow. “Have you, now. All your life?”

“I don’t know. You tell me.” She laughed softly.

She rose languidly from the couch and the sunlight pouring in through the sheer curtains left nothing beneath her shortie to anyone’s imagination. If he’d ordered a dream woman, this would be her.

Oh, wait. I did. And here she is.

Gabe dropped his duffel by the door and strode over to where she stood on ridiculously high slip-on stiletto heels.

“Well. Let’s finds out.”

He grinned down at her, placed his hands on her shoulders and bent his head. The moment his mouth touched hers, a jolt of electricity sizzled through him. Her mouth tasted every bit as good as it looked, and when his tongue slid inside, she tasted better than finely aged bourbon. She molded herself to him, her full breasts pressing against the hard wall of his chest, her slender fingers rubbing up and down his arms. He let his tongue wander everywhere inside her mouth, licking the slick, inner surfaces, drinking from her as if he’d never be able to get enough. When she glided her own tongue over his, he tightened his grip on her and sucked her deep inside his mouth.

“Well,” she gasped when he lifted his head, the pulse at her throat hammering wildly. “Hello to you, too.”

His gaze raked over her, absorbing every line and curve, every dip and swell.

“I hope you don’t think that thing covers you very much.”

She smiled, a slow curve of her lips. “It’s not supposed to.” Her low, full-throated voice caressed his skin. She let her eyes travel over him, from his shoulders down and back up again. “But, I think you have too many clothes on for this party.”

Gabe’s groin tightened. A woman who didn’t play coy and still classy about it. Could his luck possibly get any better?
