A student she swore to protect is missing…a man she’s just met will risk everything to bring the teen back. Together, they’ll expose an unspeakable crime, while falling under each other’s spell. Ex-cop and telekinetic Gaby Peña heads security at a private boarding school. She never expected a student to go missing on her watch. Desperate to find the girl, she contacts The Phoenix Agency. Nick Torres, a telepath, is everything she’s wanted in a man: tall, dark, sexy as hell, and caring. During his time as a SEALs combat medic, he witnessed catastrophic injuries, but nothing prepared him for the horror of a kid disappearing. Moved by Gaby’s concern and captivated by the remarkable woman she is, he joins her in a search for the missing teen. Their hunt takes them from San Antonio to Mexico and back, where they unearth a criminal conspiracy neither could have imagined…one that will threaten Gaby’s life.
Nick and Gaby overstayed their welcome at Calixto’s by several hours, time eluding them. Deep in conversation concerning Isabel, their projected plans, and simply enjoying each other’s company, which included teasing on both sides, they were as inseparable as two kids who’d just discovered romance.
His pulse kept sprinting, and his skin sizzled every time she touched him. Innocent stuff like tapping his forearm to punctuate her point, her leg brushing his, and excitedly squeezing his hand when they’d discovered a new approach to their problem. Never had he met a more intelligent, fascinating, or desirable woman.
The restaurant manager wasn’t as taken. Though kind, the older man was also firm. “We appreciate your visit to Calixto’s, but we need to free up your table.”
Gaby lowered her face to hide her smile.
Nick was glad he caught it. Her pleasure made life worth living. Thankfully, her telekinesis didn’t act up, sending something flying or skidding past the manager.
Before the unthinkable happened, Nick paid the bill, leaving an enormous tip for their server, and escorted Gaby to her car. Late afternoon sun bathed her in a golden glow, making her seem otherworldly, too beautiful for Earth, yet sensuous, too. A woman who needed a good time between the sheets as much as he did, their physical connection enhanced by emotional intimacy.
Damn, I like you.
He grinned like a loon.
She returned his smile. “What now?”
In a perfect world, Isabel would already be safe and back at school, her future bright, while he and Gaby…
Too many images bombarded him, showing them embracing, their mouths joined, their kiss the slow, lazy kind, limbs tangled. Soaping each other in the shower, enjoying dinner, lunch, and breakfast, their laughter frequent and relaxed, their happiness complete.
Being with her was too hard. He wanted to touch and explore her every curve, while drowning in her wondrous scent.
Controlling himself, he simply opened her car door.
