4.5 STARS: "Zoey Wate was taken into the Clayton Pack of Atlanta, Georgia when her mother though her out at the age of fifteen. Every day Harland Clayton let her know that she was defective because she was a half-breed and only their kindness is what kept her alive. Twelve years later she knows that if she does not get away Rick, Harland's son and new pack alpha will finally take what she had refused him all along...her. Barely escaping from Rick and his pack, who were goading him on to rape her, she makes her way to a place that is whispered about, a place where werewolves and other supernatural beings live in peace. A place where half-breeds are allowed to live in peace and are welcomed. That place is Forever, Texas. In Forever she meets cousins Declain and Nolan Sawyer, her true mates. Just when she thinks her life is finally getting better her old pack shows up demanding that she be returned to them immediately. What is to become of the triad? Will the pack tell them they must comply with the demands of the Clayton Pack alpha? This is one of the most emotional of all the books in this series. We follow and feel the pain and fear that Zoey has lived with. We can see how she has degraded so much that she is left feeling worthless and less than deserving of love and kindness. We then get to see her grow in strength and self-confidence. The relationship between Zoey, Declain and Nolan is slow to come about. The three must struggle with their emotional baggage, just as we all have to. Then when it seems all is finally going to work out Zoey's past interferes. They struggle with things everyone has had to deal with at some time in their lives. So much happens as you read. We see more of the town as a whole and some of the individual residents. We see that something is going on from the first word to the last. Yes, there are some hot scenes in the story, but there are also moments of suspense and danger that you will not want to miss. Jane Jamison's world of Forever, Texas and the different people that live there are unique. You will fall in love with the area and the various individuals. You will come to call them your friends. They are depicted to be so real that you will find it hard to remember that they are only characters created in the fertile mind of the very talented author, Jane Jamison. This is the eleventh book of the series, but is written in such a way that it can easily be read as a standalone book. Even though it is a standalone I recommend that you read the series from the beginning so that you can learn how the characters interact and the different relationships develop along the way. You will see how the town and its residents grow and change over time. I have my own favorite characters as well along the way, but have come to admire and want to know more about each and every one of them. I only have one book available in the series left to read. I truly hope Ms. Jamison will soon hear the voices of a few new Forever residents that are pushing her to tell their stories as well. If not I guess I will have to reread the series again to visit with them in the future, because I can tell you this will be a series you will keep to enjoy again and again." -- Delanna, Night Owl Reviews
Declain’s gaze jumped from Nolan to Zoey. “I was just about to go searching for you. Rocky showed up riderless about thirty minutes ago.” The sight of the dark, bloody stain running down Nolan’s left leg brought him up short. “What happened to your leg?”
“I got shot.”
“You what?” Most of the people in Forever didn’t carry guns. Instead, they preferred to use their claws and fangs.
“Yep. I was minding my own business and all when I got shot.” Nolan jerked his head toward the beautiful girl. “She’s the one who shot me, cuz.”
“You’re kidding me.” Declain surged forward and tried to take Nolan’s arm. “Here. Let me help get you inside then I’ll call the doc.”
Nolan hobbled past him, ignoring his outstretched hand. “No need to bother the doc. It’s not that bad.” He shot a sneer back at the girl. “You’ll excuse me if I don’t take the time to introduce you to the shooter.”
Nolan could be grumpy as hell at times, but for once, Declain didn’t blame him. After all, the girl had shot him. Now that had to be a damn fine story. Declain tilted his head at her, shifted enough to bring out his more sensitive werewolf smell and took a whiff. She smelled like perspiration, dirt and…werewolf.
He frowned. The werewolf scent, however, wasn’t very strong. Which only meant on thing. She was part werewolf.
She’d shot his cousin, and yet, he was attracted to her so much that he was afraid his cock was already tenting his jeans. She was beautiful, no doubt, but he’d had his fair share of beautiful women in his life. That wasn’t it. The urge to take her, to push her down on the ground and mount her from behind, either as a man or as a wolf, was almost irresistible. A yearning, one that took hold of his mind as well as his body, snagged him and held him in a vise. Funny thing was, he didn’t want to get free.
Could she be the one meant for them? Was this the connection he’d heard about, but never really believed in?
Living in Forever most of his life, he’d heard enough about the connection that werewolves and their mate felt when they finally found each other. In fact, he’d heard so much about it that he’d come to think of it in terms of a fairy tale. Like believing in Santa. It was a great thing to think about, but trusting it to find your mate? That seemed just plain foolish.
Never mind that most of the werewolves in Forever had found their mates that way. As far as he was concerned, it was the result of a group mentality thing or a weird kind of placebo effect. The connection was just a term they used instead of flat-out admitting that they were hot for someone else.
His father and mother hadn’t had the connection. Instead, they’d mated because they were compatible and willing to make a go of a life together. To his way of thinking, that was a lot more sensible than trusting to an invisible string that would tie him and his future intended mate together.
But now, with her standing so close to him and feeling…something…he wasn’t so sure. And that something was powerful enough that he couldn’t doubt its existence.
He stuck out his hand, determined not to judge her for shooting his cousin before he’d heard her out.
“The name’s Declain Sawyer.”
Acting as a lot of young werewolves did when they were faced with an older, stronger shifter, she stepped back and didn’t offer her hand to his outstretched one. Yet, unlike those younger shifters, she didn’t drop her gaze, defying his dominance. He hadn’t had many female shifters do that to him. It was odd, but at the same time it gave him a new kind of thrill.
“I’m Zoey Wate.”
He smiled, keeping his teeth covered, letting her know he didn’t mean her any harm. If Nolan hadn’t retaliated against her, he didn’t see why he should. “I’m not sure whether I should say ‘nice to meet you’ or not considering you put a bullet in my cousin’s leg.”
She dropped her gaze then jumped it back to his. He was struck in the middle of his stomach as though she’d physically punched him. Strange silver-blue eyes found his and held his attention as his body became even more aware of hers.
“Like I told him, I was aiming for his heart.”
She was a feisty one and he liked that. “I guess I’m glad you’re a lousy shot.”
Zoey didn’t take the time to wonder at the strange expression on Nolan’s face. Instead, she dropped to her knees and started unbuckling Declain’s belt. She’d never taken a man’s cock in her mouth, but she was more than willing to try. She just hoped she did it the right way. He remained still, letting her take charge.
His cock was bigger than she’d expected. Even though she was still a virgin, she’d seen enough werewolves shifting to human form to know that Declain’s shaft was far longer and thicker than any of those. Curious, she touched the tip of it then jerked her hand away when his cock twitched. Pre-cum wetted her fingertip. She wanted to taste him, but held back, unsure that she’d do it the correct way.
Is there a right and wrong way of doing a blow job?
It glistened, and after taking a sniff, she went for it and sucked it into her mouth. “Mmm.” If that was what cum tasted like, she wanted more of it.
Declain undid the buttons on his shirt then spread it open. His chest was cut from stone with pecs that demanded to be touched. His stomach was flat with ridges in it and a sprinkling of dark-blond hair. He was every bit as sexy as she’d hoped he was.
He tugged his jeans over his hips and down his long, strong legs. She helped him take them to his ankles, then reached up and slid her hand under his balls. He sucked in a breath, but kept his hands to himself.
“Zoey, if you’re going to play with them, you’re going to have to put your mouth to good use.”
She leaned forward and put her nose close to the base of his cock and inhaled. It was the scent she’d gotten from him before, but stronger, muskier, and filled with sex appeal.
“Flick your tongue over it, baby.”
She did, sweeping up a little of the tasty cum again. He moaned, reached over and took her hair in his hand. She had no choice but to take his dick inside her mouth.
Did all men taste so good? Not that she cared. The only two men she ever wanted to taste were the Sawyer men.
She whipped her tongue around him, testing out the texture of his skin, feeling the way his flesh moved and gave at times then was hard as steel in the next moment. His cock twitched again and she would’ve sworn that the balls still cupped in her hand tightened.
Letting him guide her back and forth, she moved her mouth up and down his cock. He moaned, and she heard his moan echoed by Nolan.
If she could’ve grinned with her mouth full, she would have.
She pumped his cock, getting into the rhythm as though she’d already done it lots of times. He spread his legs, letting her ease against his body. She picked up speed, sucking harder, then adding a gentle touch of her teeth.
“Climb up on the couch.”
She didn’t understand what he was going to do, but rose and started to get on top of him.
“No, baby. I want you lying over my lap. Suck on me while I play with your juicy ass.”
She spread her body over the couch then took his cock inside her mouth again. He played with her hair and ran his other hand down her spine to fondle her buttocks.
“Damn, but she’s got a fine ass. You should see it from here, Declain.” Nolan’s voice was tight with need.
“And you should feel it. Come on. Grab hold and squeeze.”
When Nolan didn’t, she tried wiggling it, hoping to entice him.
“Leave it alone, Declain.” The strain in his voice was even worse now.
Declain patted her butt. “Don’t bite my cock when I do it, baby. I’m kind of partial to it.”
She only had time to wonder what he meant when he struck her, palm flat against her bottom. If he hadn’t warned her not to, she might’ve taken the end of his cock off.
He spanked her again, but she’d anticipated that he would. His fingers eased down her crack and teased her dark hole. “One of these days soon, I’m going to fuck you from behind. Would you like that, baby?”
She answered with her mouth by sucking harder. Would she like it? As long as they liked it, she was sure she’d love it, too.
Another whack had her flesh stinging.
“Look at how pink she’s getting, Nolan.” Declain struck her again then squeezed her butt cheek hard.
She whipped her tongue around his cock and cupped his balls.
“You’ve still got one hand free, baby. Play with your clit.”
She hadn’t done that much before except late at night when the rest of the pack was sleeping.
“Go on. It’ll be sexy as hell.”
Shifting to her side, she kept his cock in her mouth and put her other hand between her legs. She was even wetter than she’d thought she’d be. Her clit was already humming and aching to be touched. Until he touched her, however, she’d do it herself.
She rubbed her heated nub, closing her eyes to savor the flavors in her mouth and the feelings surging through her body. Moaning, she picked up speed, massaging her clit harder and drawing his cock in and out with the same intensity. Her whimpers grew louder as the storm inside her threatened to break loose.
