Dylan danced the bottom of his glass over the high table, watching the bar doors absently. It was dark, a little crowded. Kind of typical for a Thursday night. There was music, but this wasn’t exactly a dancing hot spot. More a meet for a drink and bullshit session dive.

Exactly what he needed for the night’s purpose.

He took a sip from his glass, grimacing at the burn in his throat. He spotted Troy coming through the doors and waved him to the table.

A hard slap on a shoulder in greeting rocked him on the seat. He shook his head. “Asshole.”

Troy shrugged and waved over a waitress to take his order. Once he had it in hand, he said, “So what’s up?”

“Waiting for Cage and Mike.”

“Why?”

He glanced down. “Want to only ask once,” he mumbled.

Troy gave him a close stare. “Are you okay?”

“Me?” He jerked upright. “Yeah. I’m fine. It’s for Lauren’s birthday next weekend.”

“Man, you know I suck at those kinds of presents. Buy her jewelry.” He took a long draw of his beer.

“Not that kind of question.” When Troy went to ask, he shook his head. “You’ll see.”

“Okay, man, but I’m telling you, you can’t go wrong with bling.”

Dylan huffed then downed the rest of his own drink in one large gulp. It wasn’t too much later before Mike and then lastly, Cage wandered in. They took seats around the table. God, Dylan’s stomach was a knot. He wanted to do this for Lauren and these were the three men he trusted the most in his life. But… Christ. How many husbands asked another man to eat out his wife?
