I loved this book, and really didn't think I would. First of all, it had 'Christmas' in the title, but Christmas is not central to the story. I also thought it would be a typical M/F romance, and though it had a typical happy ending, it was not typical at all. First of all, the Canadian heroine is in her 30s and quite intelligent, funny and bold. She goes to Italy on her own after her engagement breaks off and drives around on a pink Vespa she names 'Guido'. She meets Sandro, who is quite cynical, due to his own past. She begins to influence him in many positive ways, not the least of which is in how he views animals. Sigrid has worked back in Canada as a volunteer at an animal rescue, and in Rome she and Sandro save an injured cat, for example. I loved the travelogue and the descriptions of Italy, but mostly I loved the very funny banter and dialogue between the two main characters. Well-written and will make you laugh. It got a deserved 'steamy' rating, because the sparks fly between Sigrid and Sandro, both intellectually and physically. Lots of fun.
