Author's Bio
A native Romanian, Scarlet was born in 1986 and grew up an avid fan of Karl May and Jules Verne, reading fantasy stories and adventure. Later, when she was out of fantasy stories to read, she delved into her mother's collection of book and of course, stumbled onto romance.
As a writer though, Scarlet Hyacinth was born one sunny summer day, when a dear friend of hers - the same friend who introduced her to GLBT fiction - proposed they start writing a story of their own. As it turns out, the two friends never did finish that particular story, but Scarlet discovered she had a knack for writing and ended up starting to write individually. And so, between working on her dissertation, studying for exams and reading yaoi manga, she started writing the Kaldor Saga. Along the way, Scarlet met a lot of wonderful people who supported her, and in the end she found her story a home and in the process, fulfilled a beautiful dream.

Q. What do you think influenced you in becoming a writer?
A. I've always been a storyteller, in a sense, even if I never put my stories on paper. Growing up, I would have fun inventing stories about princesses and brave warriors who saved them from bad guys some of them clichs, others peculiar. I fiddled with poetry in high school, but never quite found what I was looking for, the real urge to make me start writing. It was only after starting to read m/m fiction that I fell in love with writing. Perhaps there is a connection, perhaps not. I know, though, that everything I am today cannot be the result of one single event, but a sum of my life's experiences.
Q. What's the hardest thing about writing?
A. The editing. When you write the first draft, the words flow, but it's so much harder to go over it again and again, finding your flaws, correcting your mistakes, fixing your formulations. But if at the end of the day, I end up with a book my readers can enjoy, all the effort will be worth it.
Q. Do you plan your stories or go with the flow?
A. Normally, I have a general idea of where I want to take the story and go from there. But as it happens, things never go as planned and I end up writing something much more complicated and long than initially intended.
Q. Do you have a favorite character in fiction?
A. Liu Feilong from Yamane Ayano's manga You're my Loveprize in Viewfinder. In books, I would have to say Manna Francis' Val Toreth (Administration Series). He's one of the most interesting and complex characters I have ever read. I also love Johnny Heaven (Jet Mykles Heaven Sent series) and Twisted Hilarity's Kasan (from The Last Pure Human). What can I say? I have a weakness for handsome guys with long hair. It's the yaoi fangirl in me.
Q. How did you come up with the idea for Enraptured?
A. To be quite honest, it wasn't something I came up to in a certain moment. I remember being incredibly tired and incredibly bored with writing my dissertation and simply wanted to procrastinate. I ended up writing the first chapter of the story and then it went on and on until I couldn't stop. I suppose at a certain point the characters simply took over and I went with it.
Q. What is the thing you hate most in the world?
A. Homophobia and prejudice. And I have to say, there's plenty of that in my country. There are a lot of people who don't understand love is not about gender, and who would reject someone simply on the basis of their sexual orientation? It hurts me to see how much hatred can exist for all the wrong reasons.
