The book was too short and the story not fleshed out. The pair fell in love in like a week! Mostly because he was nice to her. As for the hero---no real explanation as to why he fell in love with her. But I think what bothered me most was the stilted, awkward language used by the author. There was almost NO use of contractions. Everything was "I do not..." or "You will be okay" or "I an not..." Let's put it this way, when I actually read "I DONT"---a real live contraction it was enough to make me do double takes, it was so rare. The lack of contractions thing really took me out of the story because it felt so un-contemporary. I felt like I was reading a book set in the 1700's or 1800's to be honest--it really was that distracting for a contemporary novel. Overall, think the author has promise, but needs to flesh out her characters and motivations more.

I really liked this book. Suzy knows how to write a story where it is dark in the beginning and by the night, the light shines through. Antony is such a loving Dom. Cassie has been abused for so long, that there was no way she could deny Antony's loving touch and heart. He is patient with her. He protects her. Loves her......le sigh
