The book was well written, but I found the story line difficult to tolerate. I stopped reading several times, disgusted with the direction of plot. Why couldn't Lucy be told that her cooking and singing were bad? Even when she was no longer associating with Constance, she has no honest friends. Why did the entire town band together to keep up this deception, when her gossip was so destructive? Even Amelia, who thinks only of herself never says anything. In my opinion this makes Lucy lack depth and annoying. The author did not allow Lucy to grow beyond sexual exploration. Honestly why must any female lead be portrayed as too stupid to see that she has burned dinner, when she cooks the entire meal? The other defects may be softened by saying each person is who she is and real change is rare, but not burnt food.

The main characters in this book were entirely unlikeable. Noah and Amelia needed to learn to grow up and see the world they live in as it is, the same as the main characters in the other books in the series. They could have done that without bringing back Lucy the witless gossip. Obviously, none of the authors in this book felt that developing the character into a better person was worth the trouble. I mean really how are the other trios suppose to believe that she won't be equally stupid and "out" them. If this series is extended to new stories at least these characters need not appear in many, and hopefully neither will Lucy.
