The warmth was welcome. Sterling switched on the hall light and glanced around, taking off his shoes.
“Nice,” I said, glancing around as I walked into the living room.
He turned to look at me. “The house, or me?”
I smiled. “Both, actually.”
“Lock the door behind you,” he said.
When I had turned to lock the door, I was suddenly alone. “Sterling?”
“I’m upstairs,” he called out.
