5 CHERRIES: "In the fourth installment of the Marius Brothers series, Ms. Flynn has definitely put together a dynamic due. She has paired a vampire warrior with his sworn enemy, a demon. This was a pairing that had me wanting to read Victor immediately. Victor Marius is an eight hundred and ninety-five year old vampire without a mate. To say he’s extremely lonely is an understatement. Just when he thinks he won’t ever find his mate, he finds one smoldering on the side of the road. Victor is a little taken back on how to accept his new found mate, who happens to be a demon. Vampires and demons are like oil and water, they don’t mix, but when Victor is with Malachi all he wants to do is love him and to make up for Malachi’s difficult past. Malachi is a victim of circumstances. He didn’t choose the life he has been forced to live, but it’s all he’s ever known. Born into the world of demons all he’s ever experience is cruelty. Malachi is an amazing character. After suffering years of abuse, he still has the ability to love and trust. His past doesn’t define who he is and when he meets Victor he’s ready for a fresh start with no looking back. Victor and Malachi becoming mates is only part of this story, the other is the reaction from Victor’s family. It was interesting to see how this half demon was going to be accepted into this family. It was surprising to see some of the reactions Malachi received, and who they came from was a little shocking as well. There are individuals in this family who have suffered violence at the hands of demons and that is clouding their acceptance of Malachi. It’s heartwarming to see how this family works together to heal the wounds of the past. The Marius family is one of love, respect, and loyalty. Once a part of their inner circle, no one gets left out or left behind. Victor is a passionate love story between two men from completely different backgrounds but are wanting the same things out of life, love and acceptance. If you’re looking for a story that will bring a tear to your eye one minute and having you fanning your face the next from the very descriptive love scenes, this is the story for you. 4.5 NYMPHS: "Victor hates the fact that he is jealous of his brothers because they seem to be finding their mates. He hopes his day will come soon but doesn’t expect to find his mate while on a mission for the Council. Or that his mate will turn out to be part demon. I loved this fourth addition to the Marius Brothers series. Victor is told in the first person, which is a change from the previous stories. It is also one of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much. It not only gave the series a breath of fresh air but it allowed the reader to learn new tidbits about some of the previous characters we have come to know. As for Victor and Malachi, the author could not have formed a more perfect couple. Victor is the oldest of the Marius boys and from the moment of each of his brother’s births, he has pledged to protect them, something his brothers never realized. His size and strength, as well as the fact that he comes across as very cold, has made him feared by many of the other vampires. The author wrote the perfect mate for Victor in Malachi. This is a young man who has had an extremely rough life. His need to be loved and protected meshes perfectly with Victor's need for a mate to cherish. While the mating bond calls to each of them, their joining is not the typical happy event, due to Malachi’s background. The angst that their mating causes, not only within Victor and Malachi, but also other members of the Marius family, comes through clearly, and while I could understand the reactions of some of Victor’s family members, I was disappointed in their behavior. The connection between Victor and Malachi is strong, however, and I loved that these two finally realized just how much in love they really were, even in such a short period of time. With the appearance of several members of the Marius clan, as well as the unexpected appearance of a new family member, there is plenty to keep the reader happy while they await further additions to this series." -- Critter Nymph, Literary Nymphs Reviews

Victor is the embodiment of a big brother and throughout the series has stood by his brothers and their mates. In this story, I found I wanted to scream at Victor’s family because they are so callous and selfish. Despite the resentment, I found myself sympathetic to them all and thoroughly enjoyed the story of the eldest Marius brother. What the fuck?

As I got closer, I saw steam coming off the small, barely clothed, and beaten body. Approaching slowly and cautiously, I almost jumped when the man rolled over and looked at me. Shit, he was a demon.

“Wait,” he croaked out when I raised my gun. “I’ve never killed anyone, warrior. I swear it to you! I was born this way.”

“That’s not possible,” I whispered, feeling the draw to my mate. I desperately wanted to believe him, and there were signs that he wasn’t a full demon. He was still alive in the sun even if his skin was smoking, and he had a nasty-ass sunburn. The man also didn’t have the typical red eyes of a demon, they were midnight blue. “What is your name?”
