5 LIPS: "Stormy Eyes by Lynn Hagen is a powerful read. I found the human trafficking angle to be really heart-wrenching. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be ripped from one's foreign country in the middle of the night to be sold as a human sex slave. Kyoshi and Keata are both very well done characters. They are weary and don't trust easily. I felt even though this was fiction, it really was done realistically. The pace of Ms. Hagen’s writing is not too fast or too slow, which is a credit to her writing abilities. Kyoshi is used to being the stronger of the two cousins. He has a hard time letting anyone else take that role in his life. Storm is a big bad alpha used to protecting what he considers his, so watching him tip toe around his new mate is really cute. 4.5 NYMPHS: "Stormy Eyes is book five in the Brac Pack series and tells the story of Storm and Kyoshi. While Storm is a character that readers will know well, it is Kyoshi who the readers are meeting for the first time. This is a character that not only matches his mate quite well, but also makes a terrific addition to the circle of mates. The sex between Storm and Kyoshi is, of course hot, but it is the rest of this story that makes this a great read. The interaction between the two men, as well as the rest of the pack members, will leave you laughing more than once. Just wait till you get to the mates party scene or when Kyoshi and Cecil have a tiff. I could not help laughing out loud. When this series first started, I found the first story to be good but a little weak. The author seems to be getting better and better with each new addition. While the books may not be everybody’s cup of tea, those fans of shape-shifter stories, especially the ones in which there is clearly an Alpha in the pairing, will love these stories. The characters are always engaging, whether it is the primary couple in the story or one of the many secondary characters. The author usually throws in a few minor twists to keep the reader entertained and wanting more. Stormy Eyes was no exception to this rule. 4 CHERRIES: "Ms. Hagen has written another extraordinary edition to her Brac Pack series with Stormy Eyes. She dives right into human trafficking and what it has done to two young Japanese men. In the process of telling this story she also plants seeds for future stories for other members of this pack and the neighboring pack as well. Kyoshi is an extremely cautious character. He takes his responsibilities of caring for his younger cousin to heart and doesn’t want to see any harm come his way. Kyoshi reminded me of an overprotective mom but as you read you learn Keata is all the family he has and he has always looked out for his cousin. It was sweet and touching to read as Kyoshi cut the apron strings to give his cousin the space he needed. Storm, or Stormy Eyes as the mates like to call him, wasn’t expecting to find his mate and reading about these two sparring back and forth was hilarious. Storm is six foot seven with a five foot two mate. Kyoshi may be small but has the temper of a giant. The dialogue between them was well written and very funny; almost like a couple that has been married for years. Kyoshi has no fear when it comes to Storm, only love. As in all the stories so far, the alpha’s mate Cecil seems to find time to get them all into trouble. I have to admit that is always very humorous to read. When all the mates get together, trouble is bound to follow. The story definitely had its serious moments too. The Brac Pack take on the smugglers and that has an interesting outcome. Plus we find something out about Kyoshi that will surprise all readers. If you’re a fellow fan of Ms. Hagen’s Brac series, Stormy Eyes is a must read.
