5 HEARTS: "Robert Landom is a twenty year old boy/man whose parents died six months before the story begins. He works in a plant and takes care of his younger sister Emma and baby brother Jake. The employees are called into a plant meeting at the end of the day to meet their new vice president, Ethan Russell. Just looking at Ethan made Robert's heart just go into overdrive, the same could be said for the moment Ethan saw Robert. Poor Robert doesn't really understand what is going on, he's always dated girls and had never even looked at guys. Ethan is so strongly attracted to Robert he involves himself with the whole Landom family. Again, poor Robert is very unsure what is going on in his head. He is so attracted to Ethan, but is also adamantly convincing himself he's not gay that there is quite a bit of struggle (in his head). When the two finally do manage to get together it is amazing! Ms. Hagen has written a very moving and intense story. This isn't completely about Ethan and Robert, Emma and Jake absolutely love Ethan and he feels the same. We meet a few supporting characters in this story, Juan, Mrs. Sanchez, Tammy and Harold. While we don't get to see any of them for too long, they all leave us with the knowledge of who they are and how they affect Robert's life. The dedication of this book by Ms. Hagen says this is the first story she wrote and it is different than the others she has written since. It is. That doesn't mean it was bad and they are good, nor does it mean they are bad and this one is good. This is a completely different novel and it really blew me away. This story is so romantic and it's FANTASTIC too! I have read almost all of her novels and at least liked them all (some more than others) but if I could give this more than five hearts I would. I loved it!" -- Teresa T., The Romance Studio

4 STARS: "ROBERT'S VP is an excellent MM romance with believable characters and a lovely relationship. This is a great example of how two normal people can combine to make a tender and sexy romance. Robert's parents died in a car crash leaving the young man to raise his two siblings alone. Robert works in a factory in an attempt to pay the struggling family's bills. One day at a mandatory factory meeting, Robert meets the new factory vice president, Ethan. Ethan immediately begins pursuing Robert but Robert has never thought of himself as gay. But Ethan makes Robert feel things he can't ignore, no matter how complicated this makes his life. Oh, this is a lovely story! The developing romance is the sole tension in this story and for me that worked perfectly. Robert was such a sympathetic character struggling to make ends meet and do the right thing by raising his siblings. The author did a very good job of showing who Robert is before he meets Ethan and then how Ethan lights up Robert's world. But it was well done that Ethan wasn't the prince to Robert's Cinderella; instead the men complemented each other and enabled each to be better, stronger people. This wonderful emotional intimacy is matched beautifully by their explosive sexual intimacy to form a perfect romance. Romance fans will not be disappointed in this outstanding story. I also liked the seemingly realistic exploration of Robert's coming out. I don't have first hand experience, but this seemed realistic, both with Robert's self-examination (i.e. does this make him feminine?) and with his friends and family, especially his charming sister Emma. This exploration of gayness was simultaneously heartwarming and heart wrenching. I don't want to give away too much but I promise as a reader you will be deeply moved. ROBERT'S VP is one of my favorite MM romances I've recently read. The tender but sexy romance and the wonderful family focus of this novel made it a true winner for me." -- J9, The Romance Reviews

"The nightmare of losing his parents in a senseless car accident gives way to the responsibility of raising younger siblings for Robert Landom. His job was supposed to earn extra money for college, but now as the sole breadwinner Robert’s job is the only thing keeping them afloat. The last boss had it in for Robert though he never knew why so a new guy could be a good thing. However, when everyone is introduced to the new Vice President Robert can’t take his eyes off the man and he can’t understand the pull between them. Robert isn’t gay, yet something about Ethan Russell calls to every cell in his body and it seems the feeling is mutual. As Robert and Ethan wade through their desire and intensity for each other they must also deal with a twelve year old and a baby who need love and support as well. It’s a lot for Robert to handle, especially when disaster knocks once more. Heartwarming and real on so many different levels, Robert’s VP will captivate readers from beginning to end. The characters are vivid and memorable though the story is mainly from Robert’s perspective, his angst and joy in dealing with all the responsibilities foisted upon him. Robert’s VP takes readers on a journey of hope and love as the family learns to cope with their new future. The physical side of Robert and Ethan’s relationship is beyond hot. There’s no question you will think of this family long after you’ve finished reading Robert’s VP." -- Lisa, Joyfully Reviewed

STORY EXCERPT

Robert’s steps faltered as he headed to the lunchroom for the mandatory meeting. He was tempted to take a seat in the corner but knew he would be asleep in five minutes if he did. He was exhausted.

He opted for the seat up at the front of the room instead. At least sitting up there with the bigwigs, he would stay awake. He’d be too embarrassed to fall asleep. The lunchroom filled with employees, and the meeting finally got underway.

Thank god.

The president of the company walked to the front of the room, cleared his throat, and began his speech. “As all of you know, Mr. Cunnings is no longer with us.”

Robert could have sworn he heard a few low cheers. He smiled. Guess he wasn’t the only one happy to see that rat bastard go.

“I wanted to introduce you to—”

Robert tuned the man out. It wasn’t like he was saying anything that would directly affect him. His eyes started to drift close, his arms crossed over his chest as he slid a little further down in his seat. Sleep was trying to claim him even though he sat up front.

Then the new vice president of the company walked into the room from a doorway near the front. Robert sat up straighter, his eyes widening. He was expecting another rotund, middle-aged man with a balding head and a double chin.

He wasn’t expecting him.

Good lord. The man had to be at least six foot five! Robert wasn’t small himself at five ten, but this man was just…tall. Robert shifted in his seat at the uncomfortable feelings that started invading him. Why was he checking out the new VP?

man.

Robert’s eyes drifted up as he took in the clean cut chestnut brown hair, wide shoulders and solid build. The man patted the president on his shoulder, and Robert noticed the long, slender fingers. His eyes darted back down as…what was his name? Robert had tuned the speech out, so he didn’t even catch the name of the man making him feel strange.

He fiddled with his fingers, wishing the meeting would hurry up and end. The feelings fluttering around his stomach bothered him. He wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. His traitorous eyes glanced back up almost against his will, this time noticing the expensive suit that fit the man perfectly. It emphasized his narrow waist and long, long legs.

Robert’s eyes nervously darted around to see if anyone had noticed his unusual interest. Everyone wore the same bored, glassy-eyed expression, wanting to get out of there as quickly as Robert did. Like a magnet, his eyes were drawn back to the new VP. Robert swallowed hard when he found the man was looking directly at him. He felt a connection snap into place as their eyes locked.

Thunder pulsed in his ears as Robert’s blood rushed and his heart raced. What was wrong with him? A reaction like that was supposed to happen when he found the right girl, not guy. Maybe he was coming down with something. That had to be it. It was the only way to explain his racing pulse.

“So,” the man said, “I wanted to thank all of you for taking time and coming to this meeting. I hope to get to know you on a more personal basis.”

His eyes shot directly to Robert as he said the last part. Robert squirmed in the hard metal brown folding chair. He felt singled out, the center of attention, and it made him very uncomfortable. Checking his watch to see the meeting had run five minutes past quitting time, Robert sighed. He hadn’t even called Mrs. Sanchez to tell her that he would be late.

“And look forward to meeting with all of you individually.”

This sentence caught Robert’s attention. His heart actually skipped a beat thinking of being alone in the same room with that tall and powerful man. What the hell was wrong with him?

Damn it, he needed to get out of there fast. His unusual attraction was making his head hurt. He had never in his life checked a guy out before, and he would be damned if he started now.

“Okay, guys, head on home.” The President dismissed them, and Robert stole one last look at the new vice president. The man was still watching Robert as he spoke to a few office staff.

Robert escaped from the lunchroom, as fast as his legs would carry him without looking like he was trying to escape, and ran to the time clock. He needed to pick the kids up before Mrs. Sanchez lectured him about being prompt, and he needed to get his head on straight. He did not need to be thinking about how hot some guy looked.

“Seems like a nice guy. What do you think, Bobby?” Juan asked as he waited behind Robert to punch out.

“Huh?” Fuck, he had no idea what Juan was talking about. His mind was on the chestnut-haired man who was making him feel things that he shouldn’t be feeling. Maybe he was finally losing his mind—stress could do that to a person.

“The new VP seems nice.” Juan was looking at him questioningly. “You okay?”

“Yeah, just tired. What was the new guy’s name? I was falling asleep in there.” Robert punched the clock, tossing the question out casually. Why did he care?

“Figures. I swear you could fall asleep with bombs exploding in your ears. His name is Ethan Russell.” Juan laughed as he slapped Robert on the back. “See you Monday, man. Try and get some rest.”

Ethan.

ADULT EXCERPT

Ethan raised his head, attaching his lips to Robert’s earlobe. “I want you,” Ethan breathed in his ear.

What did that mean? Did he want to fuck Robert? Shit, he had thought Ethan was going to give him another fabulous blow job. Was he ready for anything more? Robert swallowed nervously as Ethan pushed him onto his back, the bed bouncing with his weight.

Robert was stunned to see Ethan so aggressive. He had been nothing but kind and gentle. Robert watched in a fascinated awe as Ethan stripped out of his clothes, his cock slapping his lower belly. It was huge!

Oh fuck, what had he gotten himself into?

Robert whimpered when Ethan yanked his jeans and underwear off. They were both completely naked now, both sporting hard cocks. Robert didn’t know what to expect when Ethan crawled up his body and hovered over him.

“Put your arms above your head.”

Robert complied, trembling as Ethan openly took in Robert’s body with his lust-filled eyes.

“You’re beautiful, Robert,” Ethan crooned and then looked up into Robert’s eyes. “Don’t be afraid of me. I won’t hurt you. I promise.”

All Robert could do was nod. He wasn’t sure he was ready for this, but his body told a different story as his cock leaked pre-cum in anticipation of Ethan taking him. He was scared out of his mind and wanting at the same time. Ethan skimmed his hands up Robert’s hips and then his sides, up and over his shoulders and then down his arms. Gooseflesh followed the trail of fingers.

“So innocent,” Ethan said more to himself than to Robert. His long fingers wrapped around his own cock and then he pumped it a few times. Robert watched in a speechless awe. Ethan closed his eyes and removed his hand as if trying to gain some sort of composure.

Ethan’s eyes cracked open as he gazed down at Robert like a predator. “Get on your knees.”

A small whine spilled from Robert’s lips. He was scared out of his mind and excited to have this man want him. Ethan moved back to allow Robert’s trembling body to do as he was told. He never in his life felt more exposed than when he got on all fours. He smashed his eyes closed, wondering what Ethan thought of as he gazed at Robert’s asshole.

Ethan’s large hand ghosted over Robert’s back and then his ass. “Relax, baby.”

Robert felt the bed dip and then heard Ethan’s belt, so the man must be digging in his pants pockets. He hoped that was the reason for the clanking.

He jumped when cool fingers touched his hole, making his body shake harder. Ethan’s hand rubbed up and down his spine and Robert relaxed some. Robert focused on the pleasure Ethan’s fingers were giving him when he heard little noises sounding in the room.

Robert blinked in surprise when he realized it was him making those whimpering noises. Ethan’s fingers circled his perineum then trailed back up to his asshole. Robert leaned back into those fingers, enjoying the sensation they were eliciting. When a finger breached him, Robert went rigid. It was the weirdest feeling in the world.

“Relax, love.” Ethan kissed Robert’s back and nipped one of his shoulder blades.

Relax? How? He had a finger stuck in his ass. How was he supposed to relax? Exhaling heavily, Robert tried his best to do as Ethan instructed. Robert was no expert on manlove, so he relied on Ethan to know what he was doing.

“Ethan.” Robert felt better, comforted, when he said the older man’s name.

“I’m right here, love.” Ethan kissed his spine as the finger slowly moved in and out of Robert’s ass.

Robert gasped as another finger filled him and touched something inside of him that made his body shoot pre-cum straight out of his cock. Oh hell. Nothing like that had ever happened before. Robert panted heavily as his legs threatened to give out. Whatever Ethan touched inside of him set his body on fire.

He cried out, tremors racking him. He wanted more.
