Raw Desire (MFM) by Leah Brooke (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )

I'm on the fence with this one. I’ve enjoyed this series so far and will buy future books without hesitation. But, having said that, I think because this is the first book featuring a complete outsider it gave me a different, and somewhat negative, perspective on the men of Desire. I was put off by the way Alison was treated by the sheriff when she was clearly a lone woman in distress. Isn't Desire the place where women in need can go for help? I was also put off by the rude accusations Dillon and Ryder leveled at her right off the bat when they drove her into town. And then our heroes, supposedly masters of female physical nuance, don't even notice her winces and gasps from her hidden injuries? Surely this isn't the Desire we've all come to know and love. Something else that puzzled me was the feeling of lack of familiarity of the other characters. Almost like the author had lost touch with them. Again, this may have had something to do with the “outsider” lens, but there wasn’t the warm camaraderie and byplay between characters that we’ve seen in the other books. Overall, I did like the book well enough. It was a very worthy length, had a decent story arc, and was full of hot scenes. It just seemed like more of a stand-alone than part of the series.

I've really enjoyed this series so far. Overall, this book was no exception. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 was the overuse of the phrase "strong men." The characters kept repeating it over and over and over again throughout the book and it became a distraction. I might be missing something here, but maybe some strong actions could have been substituted for the actual words once in a while? At any rate, this series remains an absolute auto-buy for me and I'll be first in line for the next installment.

A Convenient Husband (MFMM) by Reece Butler (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )
$7.99
Categories: Historical, Menage a Trois/Quatre, Western/Cowboys

This reviewer's rating: 5 - Outstanding

This series has grown so rich and so naturally that by the time you get to the fourth book you simply assume there will be more. It's almost as if the stories have already been written and it just takes a bit to get them on paper. One small thing I would like to mention, just so others aren't surprised like I was, is that the very last scene of the book seemed to stop sort of abruptly. It was a good and positive scene and I would have liked to savor it another paragraph or two, but it absolutely did not detract from my enjoyment of this terrific book. Looking forward to the next!

This one was good, but not my favorite of the series. Still, I wouldn't have missed it and I do hope more are coming!

Menage on the Prairie (MMF) by Xondra Day (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )
$4.99

This reviewer's rating: 3 - Average

I gave this a 3 instead of a 2 because I'm not crossing this author off just yet. I agree with the reviewer that mentioned how the story seemed to unpredictably jump forward, leaving out a LOT of detail. However, it did have potential. There were a few odd sentences in the beginning, like, "Intertwined together, they..." (is there another way to be intertwined than together?) and "Each one's warmth permeating into the other..." (again, doesn't permeating imply "into" something?) I'm no English major, but the extra words, and there were more examples than these two, made for some less than smooth reading. On the up side, this seemed to straighten out as the story leapt along. I'd be willing to give this author one more go. Hopefully next time we'll get to see a more complete story.

This reviewer's rating: 4 - Good

This is a great start to the series and I plan to read all 3 out so far. I liked the setting and characters, both primary and secondary. It did get a bit predictable towards the end, but that didn't detract from my overall enjoyment.

Chasing Lacie (MFM) by Jenny Penn (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )
$5.99

This reviewer's rating: 5 - Outstanding

I've been a Jenny Penn reader for some time now, but sometimes found her plot lines and dialog to be overly simplistic. What I like best about this book, is how it showcases an expansion of her story telling skills. While still including her trademark, red hot love scenes, the story connecting them was more polished and enjoyable in this one. I clearly see the baseline backstory uniting this with the others in this series, (i.e. Masters of Cerebrus, demons, etc.) but this book widens the possible list of future plots/characters which will hopefully spell more books! Can't wait for the next one!

If you're sensitive to grammatical gaffes, this is not the book for you. Jarring sentences like "she didn't have any bra on," or, "she found herself in a vicarious situation," instead of a precarious situation, were enough to yank me right out of the story. I'm not talking about one or two spots here, this happens constantly. This is the second book I've read from this author and I didn't see this in the other one. The story is decent, as is the character development, (hence the 2 rating,) but I don't think I'll be risking my hard-earned money on another from this author. I hate to be so negative, but if you buy this book based on all of the glowing reviews like I did you too could end up disappointed. Consider yourself warned.

This one was good, but not as good as the others in the series. In my opinion, the story was over before it began. In the first couple of chapters the main characters step right into a long-term menage relationship. It was almost like the book started off with an old married triad. The balance of the story was good and I will certainly buy other books in this series as they come out.

Enjoyed both books so far in the series. My only issue with this one is that one of the brothers seems a bit left out in the greater scheme of things. Everyone is happy enough, so the story ends up ok, I just wish I hadn't been left feeling a bit sorry for poor number three. Still absolutely worth buying and I look forward to more in this series.
