Mastering Elodie (MFMM) by Paige Warren (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )

Categories: BDSM, Contemporary, Menage a Trois/Quatre, Rubenesque, Western/Cowboys

This reviewer's rating: 3 - Average

Pretty good book. The story was a little too unbelievable for me in that all the men basically fell in love with Elodie instantly. It just seemed too cute considering how she felt about herself and how the town viewed her. From the very beginning, it was TOO fairly tale and neat IMO which is why I rated it down a notch. Aside from that, the writing was good and I'd probably read the next book in the series (all signs point to at least 2 more involving their cousins).

Book 2 in the Golden series. I think I liked book 1 better, but this was still a good read. I was glad to get insight into how Evie came to be captured---something that wasn't fully exlpained in Book 1 (Kylie's story) and it was nice to see the author address her life on earth (her parents, etc). I enjoyed the budding relationships between the trio and contine to be intrigued by the customs in this alien world. I'd like to see more action in subsequent books--the plotlines have so far revolved solely on the relationships, which results in lulls in the stories that are often filled with less interesting details (dress fittings, dinners, etc). I'd love to see the author add some kind of intrigue or secondary storyline to keep the plot moving apart from the sex, lol. Overall, a good book, and I look forward the the next one in the series.

Good, but not as good as Book 1. I didn't fully connect with the trio until about halfway or 3/4 of the way thru the book. Not sure why...perhaps it was the fact that (without giving any spoilers away) we didn't get the whole backstory between the heroes until very late in the book The result was that I felt emotionally distant from them characters. Like, I got the mechanics of the story (which were good), but I didn't FEEL it. Once the backstory was fleshed out it was like all the characters got to open their emotional floodgates and I really got into the story. I just wish it had come sooner. Overall, it's a well written book and I look forward to more in the series.

The author definitely has promise. The story was good but needed to be fleshed out more.....it was a little too "by the numbers". There was a lot of telling, but not enough feeling, if that makes sense. I didn't fully connect with the characters, particularly Melanie. For example, what is her backstory, why has she she been emotionally hurt in the past? Why is she so easily accepting of these men? I know it's because of the mating bond, but it's such an easy, quick way out. Surely anyone would be somewhat conflicted? Her whole life has turned upside down and I wanted more from her point of view. Anyway, I am intrigued by this author and would consider reading more from her, particularly if this becomes part of a series.

Meh. Didn't really care for this. The tone was very light hearted which I didn't expect and didn't feel right in a book about dominance and submission. The intensity just wasn't there. Disappointing, since I've read this author before and have liked her previous work.

Great book! The heroes are strong and dominant but not overly domineering or harsh. The heroine is strong, and even though she's been thru hell she doesn't act irresponsibly or hastily which is always a pet peeve for me. Thankfully the author doesn't use those clichéd plot devices. My only tiny issue is that with so many men, it was a little hard to fully get to know them, their personalities, etc.

Categories: Contemporary, Menage a Trois/Quatre

This reviewer's rating: 3 - Average

This book was fine but, I hate to say it, boring. The suspense portion of the book was clearly a throw away just to be able to say it was there. It could have been left out IMO. The romance was fine....but I didn't feel like I fully connected with Becca, Travis, and Mark. I didn't read the previous books in the series and I believe the trio first met in one of them. Maybe that is why I felt a little disconnected from them. The book starts off with them meeting again for a wedding, and the men have just mooved to Plenty. There was really no conflict throughout the book---the trio meet (again), immediately start a relationship, and basically it's happily ever after. Which is OK but bland. It just needed more drama---from internal (romantic) or external (a viable villain) sources.

Hearts on Fire 3: Tasha (MFMM) by Dixie Lynn Dwyer (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )
$5.99
Categories: Contemporary, Menage a Trois/Quatre

This reviewer's rating: 3 - Average

Yes the story was quite violent, which surprised me but didn't bother me. It was a little over the top in that Tasha was constantly stressed/in danger. If anything I was bothered more by the almost singular focus on Tasha's trials and tribulations. I actually really liked Tasha and her men, I just wish there had been more romance and a little less drama. The story felt very lopsided---it was all about Tasha while the men were more like peripheral instead of main characters. I wanted to know more about the guys, their feelings, their love for Tasha, etc. Having not read the previous books, maybe a lot of that was covered in those. I just felt like the villain had more interaction with Tasha than the heroes did for 80% of the book. Still, the overall writing was good and I did like the story, even if it was a bit overwrought and not as romantic as I'd have liked.

This reviewer's rating: 3 - Average

So, I liked this book, but at the same time am conflicted about it. I give it a 3 for storytelling 4 for heart and emotion. First, the Good: Great alpha heroes, a new, really intriguing world of the Ferae, and a nice bit of intrigue. I really loved Lizzie, Colton, and Jarrod and their love for each other. I really felt it throughout the story. There was such an interesting mix of alpha testosterone--by both men-- and yet a soft love and care for each other and Lizzie. Now the Bad: IThe overall world building and storytelling. I really struggled to follow what was going on. There were so many characters--I had to keep reminding myself who was who and what their relationships were as the popped in and out of the storyline. Some of the action and turns in the storyline didn't make sense to me. For example, Lizzie is badly hurt by Colton and Jarrod's enemies. Once recovered she wants to leave town but Jarrod and Colton refuse to be run out of their home. Ok, fine. But neither Colton nor Jarrod do anything to avenge her. There is a major threat upon all of the yet the men did nothing, Lizzie is supposedly freaked out but she runs errands etc. freely with no protection. It just didn't make sense to me. It was only after the threats expanded to many others that finally something was done. I didn't get that. Other loose ends or story turns that didn't make sense: What exactly happened to Jarrod after his mission went awry---and why? Matt give Colton a heads up on the plot against their kith, but a few pages later Matt is asking questions like this is the first he's heard of the plot. Huh? Again, didn't make sense. Also, ****SMALL SPOILER WARNING**** the fact that there couldn't be 2 alphas. I get it, that's the way the world in this story is built. But I have to admit, I was disappointed that 1 had to submit. I knew it would happen as the hints were there and I appreciated that it was explained thru another character that the Beta didn't have to lose a lot of his "alpha-ness". Logically I got it, but emotionally, I didn't want to see it happen. I didn't want to see 1 of the lose a part of their personality that I had grown to love. I was happy that their connection was sealed and love deepened, but couldn't help but feel a little sad. I think I was holding out hope that b/c the 3 of them were so unique, that there would be a unique solution....but there wasn't. Hence, 1 reason I was so torn about this story. Finally, and this is a small nitpick but some of the storytelling devices were overused---like characters constantly asking and answering their own questionsin their minds. I realize it seems like I have a lot of complaints, but truly, overall, I really enjoyed this book. It has an emotional pull that is not easy to write and as a reader, I want but don't always get for other authors. I feel there is a ton of potential here for very engaging Kith series. I loved the main characters, who were complex and interesting. Just some tweeks for clearer world building and storytelling and this author can be very, very good IMO. I look forward to reading more from her.

I was on my way to giving this a 5 but couldn't b/c the last 10 or so pages were were totally rushed and disappointing. I really enjoyed Alexa, Ryan, and James' relationship. It had very few of the usual cliches----the characters actually talked to each other and despite Alexa's horrible childhood, she didn't run off or do something "stupid"---there were no "big misunderstandings".....it was pretty refreshing. I just wish the side story of Alexa's vengeful uncle wasn't so obviously a throw away plot point. To wrap that up in 10 pages (if even that) just made me wish the author hadn't added that particular story arc at all since there was no commitment to it.

Good book with really engaging characters. I was a little disappointed in the story though. The romance portion of the story was really great. The action/drama portion of the story was very much an afterthought and seemed like it was thrown I at the last minute. The set up was good, about a case Mark was working on which eventually affected Diane. The problem was that it was wrapped up in about 10 pages. It just felt misleading, comparing the the synopsis to the actual story. I thought the case, the danger---to Diane and the men would have been a big part of the story but it really wasn't at all. I would have liked the romance and the suspense to be more balanced and integrated.

Good book. I really like this author. I did have a few issues: 1) Wish there has been more of a storyline as opposed to just the 3 characters getting together. 2) The editing was a little off--punctuation (e.g. commas) and a couple misspelled words. I've read Dace Everan before so I feel like this was not her fault but more a lack of editing. 3) The ending was abrupt. I really liked the characters and just wanted MORE. On the good side, this author is really, really good at conveying emotion. I would love to see her write longer stories precisely because she has such a knack for eliciting those emotions.

Hmmm, I'm intrigued by this author and am really looking forward to to reading more from her. The story is set in an interesting universe which I must admit was a bit shocking at first. But I enjoyed the characters a lot. My only complaints: 1) would have liked more backstory---on Kylie and Aiden's relationship and courtship. The story begins after they've been married for a little while. 2). More world building. Who are the Zehavians? What happened to Earth and why was Kylie kidnapped to another world? 3) Could have done without the Grandmother character. All the time spent on on her would've been better spent on Kylie and Aiden's bacskstory and world building. Overall though, an interesting read.

This book was OK....nothing particularly wrong with it at all. I was really looking forward to this story based on the excerpts but for some reason I just didn't connect with it. I thought I would feel more for Kara's story but it seemed a little contrived...or maybe not contrived, but a little forced. It felt like there was more talking about Kara's pain (by herself and others) and less showing. Intellectually I got it, but I didn't FEEL it. Also, I thought it was strange that Kara originally came to town to visit her friend Emma but after their initial scene, we never saw Emma again until the very end. Don't her me wrong, I'm the type who usually is happy there aren't a lot of peripheral characters. I just thought it was slightly weird considering they were friends. But maybe I accidentally skimmed past it.

Good book ...maybe one too many sub plots. There's the stalker/harasser from New York, the crazy wife of the stalker, and then a crazy admirer. Those stories were most interesting toward the end of the book as the momentum picked up and. I enjoyed the conclusions as it all came together, it just took a while to get there. Loved I Max and Eric--- they were great heroes. I liked Stacy too and her feisty attitude but there were times by the middle of the book that I got a little tired of the 'tude. Overall though, it's a good book and the writing as usual is solid.

Good. But a little too much going on to be plausible. I mean, multiple assaults by 2 different people , 2 psycho stalkers.... and a possible prostitution ring? Come on now. At least 1 of those story angles could have been eliminated. The writing is very good though and I enjoyed all the brothers, especially Hunter.
