A romantic getaway is exactly what Ria needs. But her tropical holiday goes terribly wrong when she’s mugged on her way to dinner. Her attackers seem to want something she doesn’t have. And her boyfriend has abruptly disappeared.
Vampire Obsidian likes his quiet life in the topics. But when he stumbles on a woman in jeopardy, he knows he has to intervene.
Ria’s assailants prove to be relentless. Every step the couple takes puts them in greater danger.
On the run together, Sid and Ria try to fight the attraction growing between them. In trying to conceal his vampire nature, Sid is walking a fine line between protecting Ria and putting her in more peril.
Time is running out. Their attackers are closing in. Sid and Ria must solve the mystery surrounding them without destroying their fragile love.
As the activity outside resumed, she crept over to Sid. He was silent now. If he stayed that way, maybe they’d be okay until dusk.
But just as she drew near, Sid thrashed again in his sleep. He whispered a name, “Malory.” Then he opened his mouth to yell it louder.
Ria clapped her hand over his mouth. Sid’s eyes flew open. She felt the scrape of impossibly sharp teeth against the palm of her hand.
Wetness shocked her. She glanced down to see a drop of blood hit the bottom of the container. Sid’s eyes widened further. Then his tongue flicked out to lick the blood from her palm.
A shudder of pleasure rippled through her. How could one brush of his tongue on her palm send a bolt of desire straight to her core? She wanted to pull her hand away, but she was afraid of doing anything that might draw the attention of anyone outside. She was also terrified of doing something that might inflame Sid’s desire for her blood.
And if she admitted it to herself, she didn’t want to pull herself away from that all-consuming pleasure.
She felt the flick of his tongue again and stifled the gasp that threatened to escape her lips. Sid’s eyelids drifted shut at the sound. He sucked gently at the tiny wound on her palm.
If the sensation of his tongue had nearly undone her, the pressure of his mouth consumed her. Images rushed through her mind. She envisioned them entwined in sweaty sheets on hot topical nights, the pressure of his body against her, the feather-light touch of his lips against her neck. She wanted to experience all of him, she realized. She…
Suddenly, she was wrenched away from the current of pleasure running between them. Tendrils of it drifted through her body. She reached out for more.
Sid held her away from him. “Ria,” he croaked. “We can’t.”
