Sylvia Ryan

Average Rating:

Sylvia lives the life of an ordinary wife, mother and professional existing in Midwest Suburbia, USA. She reads voraciously and loves to lose herself and fall head over heels for the alpha males in the novels she reads.

When she gets the chance to shed the prim and proper persona of average wife and mother, her secret identity, Sylvia Ryan, emerges. This alter ego strives to write original ideas in extraordinary settings for her readers to remember long after the book has been read. Her dream is to transform her racy thoughts and naughty nature into tangible works of erotic fantasy for others’ secret identities to enjoy.

Q: How does your writing stand apart from others in the genre?

A: I start by trying to think of settings and plots that are totally different from the books I’ve read. There are a whole lot of excellent vampire, shape shifter and cowboy/rancher books out there, so those themes are a no-go for me. I really want to write something totally original that will stand out in the reader’s mind because it doesn’t meld with any other books they’ve read.

Q: Do you try to write characters that are totally different too?

A: Yes, I try. I like to develop strong female characters that can take care of themselves and don’t need to be coddled. My heroines are smart, tough and aren’t afraid to be themselves.

Q: What about the men? Do you try to stay away from the usual fare there too?

A: I love an alpha male with an intense personality and a killer body. There are some things that just work in any book; they don’t need to be different. This is definitely one of them.

Q: What type of erotic situation is your favorite to write?

A: I get psyched to write about ménage relationships. I absolutely love the decadence of the three lovers (or more!). In my books, there is usually some conflict leading up to the decision to share. To me it’s more realistic and adds to the story line.

Q: Why not write more mainstream romance instead of the highly detailed erotic romance?

A: I think erotic romance books serve an important function for many of their readers. They have kept my marriage hot and interesting through the years, and I hope my books can do the same for others.
