Jacob S.C. Smith is a mean man who lives in isolation on his private Asteroid. But there is a secret about him that he himself doesn’t know. The question is, will he ever know, and how will that secret, if and when it’s finally revealed, not only affect him, but all of Earth?
When Jacob S.C. Smith becomes aware that his near to everlasting energy is approaching its zero level he stops and chooses bizarre ways if entertaining himself. At this moment in time he happens to be busily staring into a set of six lenses which enables him to see humans living through Earth’s centuries and struggling to survive. He chuckles and he grumbles about them. “What a laughable bunch of fools, stupid incompetent beasts with no brains.”
Wait a minute? What was this Smith was seeing? He quickly fiddled with the lenses to adjust them for a sharper focus. “There, that’s much better. Now, take a good look. What…good Lord, how terrible!”
Smith saw a raging snowstorm, gripping and freezing an entire nineteenth century city. No one was dashing for cover. All were evidently inside their houses and comfortably huddled around a blazing fireplace…all except for one lone individual…a little girl holding a small bundle of burnt matches…all alone in that terrible, terrible snowstorm…
Smith’s mind screamed at him.
Go to her!
“Why must I?” Smith answered aloud. “She means nothing to me.”
You’re wrong. She is part if who you are. Go to her! She must be saved.
