Zoey Marcel has wanted to be a writer since she was eight. She lives with her husband and their quirky pug in the Pacific Northwest and they are expecting their first child this spring.
Originally Zoey planned on writing mainstream, but somehow happened across the erotic romance genre and was surprised by how graphic the covers were. Shock became wicked fascination and after reading her first erotic romance book, she decided her mainstream romance should have more adult love scenes and a few taboos.
Her stories range from naughty and touching to dark and erotic. She likes variety in her characters from the sweet, beta or the aggressive alpha all the way to the dark, tortured hero, or antihero who walks on the dark side.
When she’s not writing, Zoey likes to workout, keep house and go places with her husband. Then of course, there is play time with the hyperactive, little dog.

Q: What genres do you write in?
A: I like to write a variety, but my favorite genres are paranormal, BDSM and historical. I also enjoy dark fantasy and contemporary. Shifters and ménage seem to find their way into a lot of my books, but not always.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from?
A: Pretty much anywhere. Sometimes a song will move me and an idea will spark, or something someone said in passing got a plot unraveling in my head. There are times I'm just doing whatever and all of a sudden I have a new idea for a story.
Q: What type of music do you listen to while writing?
A: It depends on my mood. I have my favorites, but sometimes I'll listen to a song that reminds me of the characters in the story I'm working on, or an artist the character really likes. I will listen to pretty much anything but gangster rap.
Q: Do you usually work on one book at a time, or do you have several projects going at once?
A: I generally have a few stories started at once, but will usually only focus on one or two at a time.
Q: What type of hero is your favorite?
A: That's tough. I like to write about different types of heroes. Alphas, betas, omegas, tortured heroes, antiheroes. They're all good. My favorite to write, though, is probably the tortured hero. My heart goes out to the ones that need healing or redemption. It creates a complex character and involves a good deal of psychological aspects sometimes.
Q: What type of beverage do you drink while you write?
A: Usually water, but my absolute favorite is a blended mocha from Dutch Bros. Coffee. Give me one of those, put on some love songs and I'm happy, hyper and typing away at my stories.
Q: If you weren't writing what would you be doing?
A: Probably going to school for cosmetology or to get certified as a personal trainer. I love health, fitness and beauty.
