Jessica Tennyson has never done anything crazy in her entire life. Until the night she met Ben Worthington and did things completely out of character for her. She promised to call him, but a day turns to a week and then a month.
All it takes is one message and Jess is caught back up in a game of dare.
Ben was starting to think he would never hear from the librarian who stole his heart. Then one day she sends a message, and their journey starts. He wants to fulfil every dark desire, a blistering hot encounter over the phone and, if she plays her cards right a visit to the infamous Black Rose club.
But someone is against them being together and they are willing to lie to break them apart.
Be Warned: BDSM, sex toys, public exhibition
Write a list. I want to know every dirty, depraved thought which has ever popped into your mind.
Jess Tennyson promised to call him. To tell him every fantasy she ever had, but one day had turned to a week. Now the weeks were about to hit a month since the last time she spoke with him. The night before the church. Jess never did anything crazy but the whole night had been out of character for her. A bottle of wine. Good food and company. A kiss. Anyone could have walked around the church and found Ben on his knees, her foot on his shoulder and his head between her thighs.
She’d woken up with a pounding headache and embarrassed. Hungover Jess, with messy blonde hair, smudged lipstick and panda eye makeup, was a world away from the girl the night before. The one with perfectly applied red lipstick, kohl eyeliner with a flick, and a sexy black dress only came out once a month.
I didn’t delete his number.
The intense urge to message or call him wasn’t an easy one to ignore. Ben had only seen her at her best. Nerdy Jess, with her glasses and fondness for oversized cardigans, was her daily default. Would he still be interested in helping her if he knew the real her?
Work had been busy. The run up to the holidays meant people were either hiding in the library or wanting to borrow books to read over the festive break. During the week Aaron Lambert, her boss, held book clubs and baby and me days. Jess spent a lot of her time managing the return trolley which had a squeaky wheel.
Christina, the friend who had cancelled meeting her at Mattel’s, popped in to see her, offering a steaming cup of coffee as an apology. Jess didn’t mention how she ended up spending the night with Ben.
The beautiful brunette had an awful habit about making everything about her. As soon as the apology left her lips, she launched into what happened with a lawyer she worked with. She hadn’t been interested in how Jess had spent her night.
Just the thought of Ben left her feeling breathless. His full lips, messy black hair, those strikingly blue eyes, and a crooked smile. For the first couple of days, Jess spent her lunch breaks in the library. A part of her was worried she’d bump into him. Even if she knew it was unlikely. He worked two jobs, and his free time was in short supply.
I didn’t delete his number.
Jess walked to the Ancient History section at the far side of the library and took a deep breath. She loved the smell of old books. The history between the pages. Sometimes she found scraps of paper used as makeshift bookmarks or a movie ticket. The pieces of information gave her a vague idea what kind of person the reader was and their taste in movies.
Why can’t I message him?
“It’s a bad idea,” she said out loud. “You don’t play random sex games with a stranger.”
He isn’t a stranger, not really.
