Q: Where do you get your ideas from?
A: From nearly anything that crosses my path–a book I read, a movie I saw, a story in the paper or news. Sometimes things pop into my dreams.
Q: Do you have a special writing area?
A: I created a library and writing area in the second bedroom of my apartment for the business end of writing. Usually, I end up on the sofa with my laptop and desk with a sleepy purring cat by my feet and a cup of tea and snack on the coffee table.
Q: Do you work outside your writing and when do you write?
A: I do have a full-time position as an assistant office manager, but luckily it’s a small office with a very understandable boss. ::wink:: He lets me write when I wish, as long as my office work is done first. So I often have my current WIP on the screen waiting for a few free moments and lunchtime. When I get home, I’m often on my laptop and sofa writing away until bedtime hits.
Q: What comes first? The idea, character, story, setting?
A: It depends on the story or what hits me first. Sometimes a character comes to me fully fleshed in a dream. Sometimes it’s the idea that I get first and the characters and story build around it.
Q: Why did you become a writer?
A: Oh, I didn’t have much of a choice. I’ve been writing since I was a child. I often have so many ideas racing in my head, I found writing them down got them out so I can get to sleep.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about writing?
A: It’s the same as reading for me. I love the escape from reality and into worlds and romances.
