AJ Jarrett currently lives in the Midwest with her husband and four children. A lover of M/M romances, she has started writing her own stories for others to enjoy. In her opinion there is never enough hours in the day but she makes it work, finding time late at night when everyone else is sleeping to write and let her imagination take over.

When she is not chasing around her kids she can be found sitting on the couch with her trusted laptop, giving life to the voices in her head.

Q: When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

A: It actually just hit me one day. I love to read and I would always come up with story ideas in my own head that I thought would make good storylines. So I took a chance and wrote a story and submitted it and the rest is history.

Q: Where do you get the ideas for your stories?

A: They just come to me most of the time. I’ll be driving, running, eating dinner with the family and boom, an idea will just hit me.

Q: If you could be a character in any book, what character would that be?

A: If I could pick any book to be a character in it would be Sookie from Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse novels. Who wouldn’t love to live in a world where vampires and werewolves existed? Plus if you had sexy men fighting over you left and right, even better. That’s my idea of a great life.

Q: What do you do when you’re not writing?

A: I’m the mother of four children, so I’m usually on the run with them. A glorified maid and chauffer who doesn’t get paid for my services. I also love to run. It helps clear my head and gives me that extra alone time I wouldn’t get otherwise.

Q: Why write in the M/M genre?

A: That’s where my interest lies. I love to read in this genre and I find the dynamics in an M/M relationship intriguing. Love is love. After reading M/F themed stories for so long, finding the M/M genre opened up a whole new world for me.

Q: Do you have a day job?

A: Yes, it’s called a stay-at-home mother. Hardest job I have ever had.

Q: Do you develop the plot or characters before you start writing a story?

A: I usually come up with the characters first. Typically I hear a dialogue in my head and from there I develop the characters into people, not just voices. After that’s done I come up with the plot.

Q: What is the funniest misconception people make about you?

A: That I’m a man. People who only know me through chats or writing groups always assume I’m a man. Even people who have known me for years say if they didn’t know me personally they would think I was a man. My sense of humor and dirty thoughts generally lead people to believe I must be a man. Even my husband says that.

Q: Who do you respond to negative feedback regarding your books?

A: I don’t. Everyone is allowed to have their opinion and nothing I do or say will change that. Just because one person doesn’t like your work doesn’t mean the next person won’t love it.
